According to InStyle magazine, French actress Eva Green stated in an interview that she has indeed been cast in the lead role in Tim Burton's new film based on the Ransom Riggs novel Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children.
Eva Green will be playing the eponymous Miss Peregrine. Here is a small synopsis of the film's plot so far:
"A teenager finds himself transported to an island where he must help protect a group of orphans with special powers from creatures out to destroy them."
This will be the second collaboration between Green and Burton. Unfortunately, the first film they worked on, Dark Shadows, was a major financial disappointment. Thankfully, Green was a saving grace for the film. In Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, Eva Green's character is a stark difference from the dark, brooding, femme fatale we're use to seeing her portray. Green describes her character:
I'm playing Miss Peregrine. It’s kind of a dark Mary Poppins. It’s a role that I've never played before. It’s not very glamorous– at all! She’s fun. She’s a very good character. Very endearing.
This is nothing new for Tim Burton, but I am curious to see Eva Green play 'endearing'. I'm sure Green's fans will embrace this role as she has. She's a great actress and I'm looking forward to this film. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children is slated for release in March of 2016.
