Rumours are building that the Russo Brothers will take over the Avengers franchise after the third instalment of Captain America.
Marvel seemed to be impressed with the Russo's body of work, and work ethic that Marvel is confident they can handle both Infinity War films, Deadline reports. This quickly follows the news that Captain America: Civil War will mark Black Panther’s début in the Marvel Cinematic universe, feature Daniel Bruhl as a villain, and see the Winter Soldier’s return.
Joss Whedon, although having helmed The Avengers and next years The Avengers: Age of Ultron, is not signed on for a third film. This would be the perfect way to usher in a new cinematic era for Marvel. Once his departure is confirmed by Marvel, it’s likely that all eyes will turn to the Russo brothers.
Avengers: Infinity War Pt. 1 hits theatres May 4, 2018 and Captain America: Civil War opens on May 6, 2016.
