Telltale has released the first information about its upcoming episodic [Game of Thrones](movie:817617) title, and it's pretty tantalising stuff. Play your part within the world of Game of Thrones.
Adding to this latest story reveal, a number of screenshots from Telltale's upcoming series have been leaked. Telltale has yet to confirm the authenticity of the images, so we can't be sure they're real, but they do match the type of art style we've seen in the developer's [The Walking Dead](series:201193) and The Wolf Among Us games.
The story - Potential Game of Thrones Spoilers *
As House Forrester stands out, it seems that this could be the group we're likely to focus on. In the books, we never meet any named character from this noble house, though we do know they're from the Wolfswood in the North and sworn to House Glover of Deepwood Motte. As a result, it seems we're likely to encounter an entirely original character when the story starts.
Also in the books, they're mentioned as the scouts Lady Glover sends to help Stannis Baratheon travel through the Wolfswood as he travels to Winterfell. That's the context for the quote at the top of the image, which is said by Asha Greyjoy... who is from the Iron Islands. Linking into that hashtag, she's in effect "Iron" rescued from "Ice" by her capture in the North.
But there's more to it than that. Stannis makes Iron from Ice by intervening in the goings on at The Wall. If we assume "Iron" refers to power, he wins the iron swords of the Northmen, who are likely the ice in this interpretation. Or, possibly, it refers to Stannis earning the "Iron Throne" by being the only individual to actually care for the good of the realm by taking the fight to the Others, beings as cold as ice. Also, he does this by paying the iron price valued so highly by House Greyjoy, through strength rather than political intrigue and riches.
There will be a total of six episodes within the first season, the first being called Iron From Ice. This episode is due to launch by the end of the year, and it will be available digitally across PC/Mac, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and iOS. Additional platforms will be announced later, Telltale said.
