This past weekend, John Williams entered the recording studio with an orchestra once more for Star Wars. His objective, if sources are to be believed, was to record the music that will serve as the backbone to one of the longest-awaited trailers this side of the galaxy: [Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens](movie:711158). This, in itself, is exciting music for any Star Wars fan, but what makes it exceptionally juicy is the latest word from Badass Digest.
According to their sources, the trailer is due within the next few weeks.
That's right - the rumors of the first Episode VII trailer coming out before the end of 2014 seem to have become just a little bit more believable, and if they're true, that means we'll be getting a very special holiday present from Lucasfilm. But wait, there's more!
Badass Digest's sources have given a description of the trailer - prepare yourself:
It's going to have The Force Theme played on woodwinds, softly, over flashing images of the main leads, each fading to black. There's no dialogue, just reveals of the characters. And then the music swells up into a full orchestral piece - perhaps what John Williams recorded this weekend? - and we hear a female voice, likely Daisy Ridley's, saying "Wake up."
And then the title card appears - Star Wars: The Force Awakens - and we see the Millennium Falcon, firing blasters, coming right at the camera.
Did anyone else have a mini heart-attack just picturing that? A few weeks ago, when the trailer for [The Avengers: Age Of Ultron](movie:293035) dropped, the entire editorial team was watching it on repeat for the entire day (okay, mainly [Alisha Grauso](user:761298) and I), so I don't know how well my resolve will hold up when this trailer drops.
While the "main leads" might not specify who, exactly, we're seeing (the new kids, I'd say - but I sure hope we see the original three as well) the very idea that we might finally get a decent look at the new characters and maybe even their costumes is just -- just --
EDIT: But wait, there's EVEN MORE! Making Star Wars has also posted what their sources say will be in the teaser - though it's much, much more complex, and sounds like something that we might see later next year to me. Regardless, MSW's sources have been on the nose about many things, so I think it's definitely worth posting.
Alright, prepare yourself again:
Fade in from black, shots of the dunes, Boyega pops in to the shot from below. He’s wearing white Stormtrooper armor but he doesn’t have a helmet on.
In the teaser we only see Boyega and Ridley really.
Ridley boards a speeder.
She has a helmet on like Endor Leia, a design with pop-down goggles.
A shot of Ridley’s speeder approaching the station (the TMZ set we saw).
We see the new Stormtroopers on a transport. The flight is turbulent.
The new ball droid that’s a gyroscope and belongs to “Kira.”
The new “Sith” is also revealed. He has a cross-beam lightsaber and the beam is a bit wilder and more super-charged than your normal lightsaber.
Even though we're not really seeing any of the original trio in this telling of the trailer, I'm definitely excited to get to know our new heroes.
