It's pretty much needless to say that the role of Peter Quill/Star-Lord gave Chris Pratt's career a big boost. However, this almost wasn't the case.

Recently, GQ did an article on Chris Pratt. According to GQ writer Drew Magary, James Gunn was considering a different actor. The actor may surprise you...

Glenn Howerton
Glenn Howerton

Yep, Glenn Howerton. Howerton is best known for playing Dennis Reynolds on FX's [It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia](series:200878), a show that he also writes for and produces. More recently, he is known for playing Don Chumph, a recurring character on FX's Fargo. Gunn said to Magary:

Glenn came along a little bit later, but there was a good chance that, if I didn't cast Chris, that I would've cast Glenn Howerton in the role.

Though Howerton was not Gunn's first choice, it's pretty interesting to think of a different actor playing Star-Lord. Chris Pratt's performance was so acclaimed by critics and audiences, that many may have trouble imagining anyone else playing the part.

So what do you think? Would Howerton have played a good Star-Lord, or was Chris Pratt the one and only perfect choice for him?
