With the [Guardians of the Galaxy](movie:424073) Blu-Ray release just three weeks away, more and more of the special features are being teased for fans to check out. Among these features, naturally, is the outtakes. One of these outtakes was recently released by BuzzFeed, and is going viral for all the right reasons...
Here, Star-Lord decides that his final battle with Ronan shall be a dance off. To the melody of The Five Stairsteps' "O-O-H Child," Star-Lord shows off his impressive Michael Jackson-esque dance skills to an initially confused Ronan, who responds with a jig of his own. Even Gamora and Drax get in on the action, with Drax performing a Charlie Brown that made the stagehands laugh out loud.
What makes this outtake especially funny is how unexpected it is. We expect Star-Lord to do something like this, but not Ronan. So when Ronan bursts into the running man, your friends will likely burst into laughter. It's also hysterical that everyone manages to do this with a serious face.
Pratt said to BuzzFeed about the outtake:
We were filming what was essentially, you know, the climax of the entire movie … and I was dancing...I was standing there … in front of 200 extras in full alien makeup. And none of them knew what the hell was happening either. They thought they were on a serious movie because of all the time and the effort that had been put into their makeup. So I just had this energy of, like, What am I doing?!
Pratt also admitted to ad-libbing the part where let Gamora and Drax have a turn:
I was just trying different things, because I was just so nervous that what we were doing wasn’t going to work...I’m not even sure whose idea it was, but they just sprung into the idea that we would [all] do the entire dance-off. … At that point, [we thought] if this whole thing doesn’t work, at least we’re going to have a helluva time and a lot of fun doing it.
Needless to say, this is just a taste of what fans can expect out of GotG's bonus features. According to blu-ray.com, the release will also feature exclusive deleted scenes, a making-of featurette, an exclusive look at [The Avengers: Age Of Ultron](movie:293035), a gag reel, and an audio commentary by James Gunn himself.
Though it hasn't been released yet, it is already the number-one top selling DVD on Amazon. If you loved this movie, I suggest you pre-order your copy now. Guardians of the Galaxy is set for its DVD release on December 9th, 2014.
