Chappie is the new creation of District 9’s director and co-writer Neill Blomkamp. Together with his co-writer of District 9 Terri Tatchell, Blomkamp made another Sci-Fi film that gives a feeling of originality as his impressive debut film, District 9, did.
Take a look at the trailer:
The film explores the world of artificial intelligence through its robot protagonist. Chappie, is man-made but has all the characteristics of a high intelligent child. He has been kidnapped by two criminals after his “birth” and end ups in an unusual family.
According to Sony Pictures Entertainment the plot is this:
“Every child comes into the world full of promise, and none more so than Chappie: he is gifted, special, a prodigy. Like any child, Chappie will come under the influence of his surroundings - some good, some bad - and he will rely on his heart and soul to find his way in the world and become his own man. But there's one thing that makes Chappie different from anyone else: he is a robot. The first robot with the ability to think and feel for himself. His life, his story, will change the way the world looks at robots and humans forever.”
[Chappie](movie:466720) has an impressive cast, such as: Hugh Jackman (Les Misérables, X-Men), Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire), Sharlto Copley (District 9, Elysium), and Sigourney Weaver (Aliens, Avatar).
Chappie is going to premier on March 6, 2015, in the US and the UK.
