When NBC first corralled Bill Cosby to do a new TV series, it was in the hope that he would work the same magic he did to their lineup in the past - when "The Cosby Show" was a ratings juggernaut and was the foundation for the network's "Must-See TV" lineup on Thursdays back in the 1980s.

However, their dream to reclaim past glories came to a screeching halt with old, almost-forgotten allegations of rape by Cosby resurfacing and a new accusation being made seemingly every day' NBC has decided to pull the plug on a sitcom it was developing with the comedian for next year.

The network declined to comment further about the project, which would have starred Cosby as the patriarch of a multi-generational family and was in the early development stages.

The heat on NBC must have been intense, as reports are that the network is obligated under terms of it's contract to develop the show to give the comedian a gigantic payday if they pulled the plug - which they have now done.
