Tom Cruise certainly has his lovers and his haters, but regardless of where you stand on the issue, you have to accept Cruise is a pure 100% badass when it comes to stunts.
Whether it's hanging from buildings, clinging hold of planes or scaling mountains, Cruise tries to do as many of his stunts as humanly possible. This is even more impressive when you consider he's now 52 years old.
Here is a selection of some his most outrageous stunts, plus some other great actors who insist on throwing their bodies around for your entertainment.

It appears that an upcoming scene for Mission: Impossible 5 will feature Cruise hanging onto an Airbus A400M while flying at a height of 5,000 feet.

For Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol, Cruise really did run around on Dubai's Burj Khalifa - the tallest building in the world.

Mission: Impossible 2 opens with an impressive scene in which Ethan Hunt can be seen climbing around Dead Horse Point in Utah. In reality, ropes and harnesses were used to make everything safe, but Cruise really did tear his shoulder during one jump between rocks.
It's no surprise that the martial arts master, Jackie Chan, is a man who insists on doing most of his stunts. Indeed, he's claimed to have broken most of the bones in his body through his various action sequences. Perhaps most famous of all is a stunt in Police Story in which Chan drops several stories and crashes into a glass kiosk. He frequently cites it as one of his most dangerous stunts.
It's common knowledge that Steve McQueen was a huge motorcycle enthusiast and rumors have it that he only agreed to appear in The Great Escape if he could show off his motorbike skills. Director Jon Sturges agreed and what we got was one of the most famous chase scenes in cinematic history. McQueen did all of his own riding, with the exception of the final jump, which for insurance reasons was conducted by stunt double Bud Ekins.
For her action-thriller Salt, Angelina Jolie says she conducted around 99% of stunts herself, including one in which she must jump off a bridge and onto a moving truck.
Strangely, the fact she has had kids has made her more inclined to do her own stunts. She told Entertainment Weekly:
The funny thing about having children is that now I am twice as motivated to do a cool stunt because my kids will like it.
