Now, when it comes to Batman's rogue's gallery, there's not a whole lot you need to do to make them more terrifying. The likes of The Joker and Scarecrow are pretty fundamentally creepy, even in the comics.

What you can do, though, is inadvertently strip away what makes them so unnerving, and render them kind of lame.

That, fortunately, is very much not what has happened with the work of Matt Sprunger, shot at Stage 1 Studios in Winter Park, FL. Instead, Sprunger has created a version of the Scarecrow (inspired by his appearance in Batman: Arkham Knight) that is probably the most remarkably freaky piece of cosplay that I've ever seen - helped along by the moody photography of Rich Johnson.

I mean, we're talking...

Noxious, Terror-Inducing Gas

Which is hopefully just for show...

Deeply Disconcerting Lighting

With vials of EVIL.

Awesome Use of the Dark

And of epic breathing apparatus.

And, of course...

Incredible Detail on the Mask

Honestly, that thing is a thing of (slightly horrifying) beauty...

What do you guys reckon, though?

Loving the Scarecrow cosplay?
