In an interview with TV Guide; executive Producer of Marvel’s [Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.](series:722469), Jeffrey Bell officially revealed that the mysterious blue alien used to revive Agent Coulson is indeed a member of the Kree alien race! The Kree play a significant role in the Marvel Comic universes and have significant links to both The Avengers and The Inhumans.

The Kree was recently introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Ronan the Accuser in [Guardians of the Galaxy](movie:424073). Bell also reveals that the strange carvings Agent Coulson created after being injected with the Kree serum is actually a map of a Kree city! Could this be the Kree city of the blue area of the moon?

With the Kree playing more significant roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, one cannot help but to wonder if the Skrulls could possibly make it to the big screen. A lot of people confuse Loki’s army of aliens in Marvel’s The Avengers with the Skrulls, but in fact they were the Chitauri. Given that in the comics, the Chitauri were originally supposed to be the Ultimate Marvel parallel version of the Skrulls - both the Chitauri and the Skrulls are shape shifting aliens that play similar roles in their respected universes. However, Marvel began distinguishing between the two races – making them not exactly parallel or alternate versions. Even though Fox and Marvel share the rights to the Skrulls, we could definitely see them coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

If the Skrull does actually make an appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we can only hope that the Kree-Skrull War storyline makes it in there somehow! The Kree-Skrull War was originally published in the Avengers #87 - #97 (June 1971 – March 1972). Some critics consider the Kree-Skrull War to be a highlight of its era. It is most notable for the vast cast of characters and its cosmic scope on interstellar warfare. Also the 10 issue series is responsible for the introduction of the romantic relationship between Vision and The Scarlet Witch.

So how could Marvel tie the Kree-Skrull war into their current agenda? That’s actually quite easy! The introduction of the Kree and the Chitauri in recent films and TV alone opens up the door to introduce many other alien races. Also since Scarlet Witch is making her introduction in Avengers: Age of Ultron, and with rumors of Vision making an appearance in future films; we may very well see this romance flare up. We could also see the Kree-Skrull War somehow play into Avengers: The Infinity Wars since a significant plot of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is being built around the notion of interstellar warfare. Lastly, who can forget! Both the Kree and Skrull alien races are significant parts of the Inhuman story line, which is another obvious direction that Marvel is going in.

So what do you think? Should Marvel Studios use the Skrulls?
