Oscar Isaac is clearly not one for simply settling for one massive blockbuster franchise to put his name to this year, oh no. As well as aiding in that return trip to a galaxy far, far away for The Force Awakens, Variety have now revealed that he's going to be messing with mutants in X-Men: Apocalypse.

Isaac has been the final name drawn from the hat after various actors were rumoured for the role of Apocalypse, including Tom Hardy and, as of last week, Idris Elba (thought he cancelled the apocalypse?). Now the Inside Llewyn Davis star is down for the titular big bad of the next X-Men chapter. For anyone that's either passed Charles and his team of specially gifted heroes in either comic books or television in the past, you'll know that Isaac's character is a long time adversary to the X-Men and is also known to be the first ever mutant in history. For those that stuck around at the end of Days of Future Past, you'll recall a pasty-faced looking gent in Egypt treating the Pyramids like Lego bricks. Yep, that's the guy.

With Isaac now close to signing a deal, we should expect more names to be added to the roster, perhaps even the potential choices that were being eyed for both Jean Grey. Names that were in the mix consisted of Chloë Grace Moretz, Hailee Steinfeld for Jean and Ben Hardy, Charlie Rowe and Timothee Chalamet for the role of her spectacle wearing fella with dodgy vision. Expect eventual confirmation on both roles and hopefully a few more in the coming weeks.

What do you think of the recent announcement though? Is Isaac the man for the job? Or would you have preferred someone else as En Sabah Nurr? Give a vote or a few wise words in the comments below.
