Being a big fan of [The Walking Dead](series:201193), I've already typed up a fair few articles centering around the show, because, well, why the heck not? Anyhow, today I thought it would be, uhh.... productive to rank the seasons from best to worst... so here goes!
#5 - Season 2
Now just because I've put season 2 in 5th place doesn't mean I think it's a poor season - because it's an awesome season, and I'd happily watch it again. However, what I think put me (and a lot of other people) off this season is because after the action packed season 1, the added drama got a little too much for a horror themed TV series. There were definitely a few good episodes, and we got to see a side of Shane that we hadn't really seen previously. Season 2 also bought us a couple of sad (and unfortunately, not so sad) character deaths, whilst introducing many new characters on top.
#4 - Season 4
For me, I found the first half of season four to be very, very slow - to the point where I was getting bored waiting for the episodes to end. On the other hand, things really picked up once Philip/The Governor showed up again, and we learnt what had become of him. Season 4 had arguably the best episode in the entire series with the prison attack, and it was also super emotional. So due to the lacking first five or six episodes, season 4 comes in fourth place.
#3 - Season 1
Despite only including six episodes, season 1 made one hell of an impact, and gave us just a taster of what was to come. We met Rick, Daryl, Andrea, Carl, Lori, Shane, Carol, Dale, Glenn, and many others, and it really set the scenario for the rest of the series. Each episode was action packed, and there was never a dull moment. Saying this, looking back at season 1 now, I do feel that something was missing. I'm not quite sure what, but it just didn't have that energy to it that the more recent episodes do.
#2 - Season 3
Season three had it's good points and bad points, but I think this is a case where the good definitely outweighs the bad. We had some incredibly tense scenes with 'The Governor' over at Woodbury, and we also had a few heart stopping scenes with the birth of baby Judith. I think that by season 3, TWD was perfect - good amount of action, gore, horror, and drama, and it all mixed together very nicely to make a realistic 'zombie apocalypse' environment.
#1 - Season 5
Although some may argue that season 5 started off just a little TOO violently, I can honestly and easily say that I've never been into the show as much as I currently am this season. Sure, we're only half way through, but it's already impressed me enough to make first spot on this list! Each episode focuses on a different set of characters, and I think that's what's really been making the show interesting. Not to mention that there have been several different episodes cleverly linked together over several weeks, with new plot twists we never saw coming. The acting is superb, the story is brilliant, and the action is amazing - add that all together, and you have the perfect TV show!
