"A girl your age should be exploring new horizons,” Lara Croft’s therapist tells her in the trailer for the unfortunately titled Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Rise of the Tomb Raider: What we know so far
OK, so completely comprehensive, this piece may not be but we have rolled together as much info as we can so you can be the first to know all there is to know about Rise of The Tomb Raider.
So, Rise of the Tomb Raider is the 2015 sequel to the 2013 reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise from developer Crystal Dynamics and publisher Square Enix.
This second game picks up the story following the events of the first game and after Gail Simone's Tomb Raider comic book series.
This is a sequel to a very well-received game, but this trailer goes a long way to showing the viewer that Croft is on a journey, not just another random adventure. The things she does, and the people she kills, have a long term impact on her as a person. She’s learning to do amazing things, and she’s going to amazing places, but there’s a very real cost to her body and mind.
In her first adventure, Lara Croft was forged into a true survivor, but she glimpsed a deeper, secret world. Now, Lara must use her survival skills and wits, learn to trust new friends, and ultimately accept her destiny as the Tomb Raider.
Featuring epic, high-octane action moments, Rise of the Tomb Raider will take gamers to multiple locations around the world filled with exploration spaces that are some of the most beautifully hostile places on earth.
In addition, after hearing the cry from fans loud and clear, the game will put the tombs back into Tomb Raider, all in the franchise’s gritty Survival-Action style.
There are no official gameplay details for Rise of the Tomb Raider, but we can guarantee with 99.99% accuracy that the game will be a third person action adventure with a heavy emphasis on platforming and combat, both close and ranged.
From the trailer, players can expect the return of the bow (traditional or compound is anyone’s guess) and quite possibly the climbing pick that Lara used to great effect as both a tool and as a versatile weapon.
Camilla Luddington will reprise her role from the 2013 reboot of the series, stating she already started voicing and motion capturing Lara for Rise of the Tomb Raider. Also returning after contributing to the previous Tomb Raider game is writer Rhianna Pratchett.
Rise of The Tomb Raider will be releasing on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox360 and PC. Much more to come, stay tuned!
