Character posters are one of my favorite bits of movie promo (although, who am I kidding? We all know that I salivate over every tidbit about a new film!), and these new [Kingsman: The Secret Service](movie:713143) shots do not disappoint.
I love how these are something of a new take on the traditional character posters as well; not just faces filling the screen. The detail and posing in each poster is fantastic, and reveals a little something extra about the person.
First off; whose legs are those? You may recognize them from both the comic books and the trailer, and I love how they have included Gazelle in these posters. She's not really a lead role, but she's also incredibly fun to watch, and this is the perfect way to include her without making it about her. (And yes, it's kind of a gratuitous bum shot at the same time, but really, it's about her legs, and without the bum, you wouldn't see the hands. Or possibly understand that those are, in fact, legs. So I'm ok with it.)
First up, we have Colin Firth as Harry Hart, striding forward with a sharp suit and a particularly cool gun. Honestly, I'm a little disappointed that they don't have him with the umbrella that we saw in one of the trailers, but it makes a better point to anyone who hasn't seen that scene. There is no mistaking a gun, or Harry for anything other than a bad-ass carrying it.
Next up, our villain Valentine (Samuel L Jackson). Definitely the most flamboyant dresser, he's posed with his suitcase...and no prizes for guessing that there is something very important in there! (Whoever makes those silver cases must get most of their business from thieves and villains. It's the only way to explain how they all have the same one!)
Third comes our hero, Eggsey (Taron Egerton). Looking every bit the chav in terms of wardrobe, it's important to notice that he is otherwise in the same pose as Harry Hart, but with a slightly less polished weapon. That speaks volumes about the movie, about the relationship, and about Eggsey himself. The two posters together are perfect.
Finally, we have JB (yes, I remembered the dog's name). I can't reveal too much about this one, because it's not in the comic book or the trailers - in fact, I believe that this is the first time that the loveable furball is being introduced to the public. Let me just say that they took an amazing movie, and added an adorable puppy. Because puppies.
So what do you guys think of the new posters? Whiskey, guns, suits and puppies... does it make you more excited to see the film?
