Immerse yourself in the ultimate Star Wars experience. Star Wars Battlefront is the ultimate Star Wars battle experience, brought to life by DICE, that will play out like their other multi award winning title series - Battlefield.
Fight in epic Star Wars battles on iconic planets and rise through the ranks playing as the heroic Rebellion or the evil galactic Empire.
Whether fighting through blaster-wielding troops, or piloting your favorite Star Wars combat vehicles like snowspeeders, speeder bikes, and AT–ST’s – Star Wars Battlefront puts you at the center of the galactic conflict!
Gameplay as we see it
No official details have been disclosed at all by DICE regarding gameplay, but here at Gamertag we like to think we know our games, gamers, and game developers, so this is our prediction of how certain elements of Star Wars Battlefront will playout.
Immerse yourself in the glorious chaos of all out galactic war. Huge planetary based maps, iconic vehicles, weapons and 'levolution' destruction allowing you to create your own path and play to your own strengths.
The lower left-hand corner can feature a mini-map and compass for navigation, and a simplified objective notice above it; the lower right can include a compact ammo counter and health meter. The mini-map, as well as the main game screen, shows symbols marking three kinds of entities: blue for allies, green for squadmates, and red/orange for enemies.
Players will have access to dual-scoped weapons, including weapons with different firing modes (e.g. single shots, automatic fire). They can "spot" targets marking their positions to the player's squad allowing teammates to either suppress or eliminate them in some type of ground assault, walker action or X-wing destruction.
In addition to gunplay players, you will have certain survival capabilities, such as countering melee attacks, shooting with their sidearm while repelling down from a height or swimming, deflect incoming projectiles with a light saber type ability, and even the use of a 'Force' type perk to sustain, maintain or regain health.
As you see from the teaser video the devs, DICE visited LucasArts for inspiration for Star Wars Battlefront. In it, the new Battlefront team members expressed their excitement about working in the venerable universe, but revealed very little about gameplay. Spotting the foot of an AT-AT walker and a snowspeeder, both of which appeared in Empire Strikes Back; the suggestion, at least, is that the coming game occurs, in part, within the timeline of the Original Trilogy.
Although this upcoming game will be the third to bear the name, it has been referred to only as Star Wars: Battlefront, so far.
The game isn’t slated to hit until 2015, alongside J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode 7.
DICE has stated that the main reason they took on the Star Wars: Battlefront was Battlefield. This franchise they say "practically inspired Battlefront." Battlefield has been the hardcore FPS gamers game since the 'Great War' and became Gamertags favorite with the release of Battlefield 4.
If this is true then Battlefront will look and feel explosively brilliant! It should be built on the new (ish) Frostbite 3 engine. The Frostbite engine enables more realistic environments with higher resolution textures and particle effects.
A new "networked water" system was introduced into BF4 which, for example, allows all players in the game to see the same wave at the same time. As Battlefront will include a certain amount of snow, we hope to see the Frostbite engine working quite literally at its best.
Upon release, Battlefield 4 was riddled with major technical bugs, glitches and crashes across all platforms. EA and DICE soon began releasing several patches for the game on all systems and DICE later revealed that work on all of its future games (including Mirror's Edge, Star Wars: Battlefront and Battlefield 4 DLC) would be halted until Battlefield 4 was working properly. So for those worrying about any potential hindrances upon release we are told that DICE has it all under control.
The Movie - Star Wars VII
Contrary to what you will have read elsewhere, you won't have to head to the movies to see the trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens on Friday. Star Wars' official Twitter account sent out a message this afternoon saying that the trailer would be published Friday!
Lucasfilm initially announced that you would have to head out to one of just 30 movie theaters in order to see the trailer, so this is a big change and one that may even make a bigger impact. It's not clear if this was the plan all along, but it doesn't seem like it.
The date for the Game is a mystery within itself however Star Wars Battlefront has been expected for release summer 2015 but has been pushed back by a few months. But the release window comes as no surprise: The JJ Abrams' directed movie Star Wars: Episode 7 is due out 18th December 2015. It will most likely release on Xbox One, Xbox 360 PS4, PS3 and PC.
