It's a sure sign the end is near, the official video clip for 'The Last Goodbye,' the theme song for [The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies](movie:512312) has been released, and get the tissues out because they were definitely out for tears when they created this one.
As if the song itself wasn't emotional enough, it is sung by Lord of the Rings alumnus Billy Boyd, who played the hobbit Pippin in the films. But wait, don't bother drying your tears yet, because the video clip itself is made up of different snippets from all six of Middle-Earth saga films as well as behind-the-scenes footage.
Check out some of the highlights of video clip and watch the whole thing at the bottom:
It starts as all good stories start
But with the beautiful soundtrack of Billy Boyd
The clip has scenes from The Hobbit films
Including the upcoming Battle of the Five Armies
The huge Gates of Argonath appear
And beautiful sweeping scenic shots
With scenes from Lord of the Rings
And simply awesome snippets of behind-the-scenes footage
Emotional moments from Lord of the Rings
And more awesome behind-the-scenes footage
Orlando Bloom and Peter Jackson having a laugh on set
And this touching moment between Ian McKellan and Peter Jackson with Martin Freeman looking on
And the clip ends in the most fitting way ever
I'm not going to lie, that was a bit of an emotional journey! The scenes are so beautifully cut together and the song is so fitting that I have no doubt it will soften even the hardest of hearts.
