The Walking Dead has been absolutely jam packed with action this season, and there's only more to come. The show's producers have stated that the mid-season finale airing on the 30th will feature some of the most completely unexpected scenes of the series - so I'm preparing myself for the worst.

Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon) has previously said that he sat and cried for an hour on set before shooting the mid-season finale, which has concerned fans everywhere. So I've been mulling it over and trying to figure out what he might have been so upset about - and I think I may have just figured it out.

Daryl gets killed off.

Yup, I said it, that's truly what I predict will happen.

"It's going to be the kind of episode where people go, 'I can see how this happened, but I didn't see it coming.' I'd like to think that people feel that it is consistent with where the characters are and who they've encountered." - Gale Anne Hurd

"There are a lot of big moments from the comic book series that will be pulled into the show this season." - Robert Kirkman

Why do I think this? Well, the show's producer has already said that we should basically 'expect the unexpected', and that people won't see what's coming. After the news that Norman Reedus was crying on set, fans having been up in arms debating whether it will be Carol or Beth that sees their violent end next episode - and although they could be right, I've changed my mind a bit about the subject.

Hmm what won't fans see coming that made Reedus cry for an hour before shooting the episode?.... Well I can only guess that Reedus' character Daryl gets killed off, and there's a number of reasons why.

A - He's a fan favorite, if not THE fan favorite of the show, so no one expects him to ever get cut from the show.

B - Daryl has had plenty of close calls over the seasons, but has always *just* made it - so maybe they want to change things up a little, and prove that no character is safe.

C - Although it is possible that Norman Reedus is a very sensitive guy, he's more likely to cry for an hour over being upset to leave The Walking Dead than he is to cry over the death of another character.

D - Daryl was never in the comics, only his brother Merle, and now that Robert Kirkman has said he wants to stay as close and as true to the comics as possible, he may slowly start killing off characters who were never in the comics - starting with Daryl.

E - A bit of a change up. Daryl's been there since the start, he seems unkillable, like he's a concrete part of the show, always has been always will be - maybe they want to prove a point. No one is safe.

Or perhaps they'll go for something even more unexpected, and kill off a character such as Michonne.... but then again, we would still have to figure out why Reedus was crying. I suppose only time will tell, because I'm counting down the hours until the show airs tonight!

So, what do YOU think is going to happen in the mid-season finale? Let me know in the comments section below!

Is it likely that Daryl will ever meet his end?
