As a DC Comics fan I screamed for joy when I heard the news that they were going to make a DC cinematic universe, especially when they announced a two part Justice League film. However, after sometime had passed and actors were announced for certain characters (Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, seriously!?) I felt a little less excited for these future films. As a big movie and TV junkie I have always had a certain list of actors of who I wanted to be in my Justice League movie, so let's get started.
- Superman/ Henry Cavill
I was first introduced to Cavill in the movie Immortals as Theseus and I felt he played the role perfectly and wondered to myself "can he be good for a future superhero movie?". When he was casted as Superman in [Man of Steel](movie:15593) I felt overjoyed that not only was my question answered but that they chose him to be the backbone of DC Comics characters. I feel he has played the role of Kal-El with the respect and honor that should be when you dawn the role of Superman. I feel that they hit the mark on this casting choice and wouldn't have casted any other actor for this role.
- Aquaman/ Jason Momoa
Aquaman?................ [Aquaman](movie:264237)?...........Honestly this character was not on my list for the Justice League because he's Aquaman. I never took the character seriously enough in the comics or anywhere else, I was one of the biggest Anti-Aquaman supporters out there. Then in 2011 when DC Comics relaunched all there titles with the New 52 my mindset changed in the biggest way. Aquaman became a complete badass thanks to writer Geoff Johns, however I still felt that it would be difficult to find an actor that could take on this role. Then the following year a friend of mine turned me onto a show called Game of Thrones, since I was a year behind I had to catch up and as I watched the first season and I saw Jason Momoa's character I knew that if I was ever going to have an Aquaman in my Justice League movie the only actor I would want hands down would be Momoa. When the rumors began that Aquaman's character would be included into the Justice League and that Momoa would be taking on the role I was hoping that the rumor would not only stay a rumor for once. When he was announced officially as Aquaman my face had the Joker grin from cheek to cheek, now hopefully he can keep that serious, badass, would not want to cross him acting style for Aquaman instead of keeping him as the joke of the Justice League as we all knew him for the longest time.
- Wonder Woman/ Jamie Alexander
Jamie Alexander..................just look at the picture above and tell me that she does not look more like [Wonder Woman](movie:45787) than Gal Gadot. I mean Jamie Alexander proves that she can be around in a largely male dominated cast and still stand out and shine as her character Lady Sif did in Marvel's Thor and Thor: The Dark World. She proves that she can be a badass warrior that looks like a princess, and in the end that is what Wonder Woman is, and yes I am aware that some people will say that "well she still doesn't have the right look as far as size and muscular tone.", but I feel like her acting would more than enough compensate for those complaints. I wish she could be in the future DCCU movies as Princess Diana but because she's contracted through Marvel Studios it can never happen, but one can always fantasize.
- Green Lantern (John Stewart)/ Michael Jai White
Green Lantern is one of the most popular and most diverse characters in the DCU. With five different Green Lanterns just from Earth alone (Scott, Jordan, Gardner, Stewart, Rayner) my favorite has always been John Stewart, all respect to Hal Jordan he is the most well known Green Lantern by far, but growing up and watching the Justice League animated series I found myself liking Stewart more. When I wanted to cast John Stewart it was actually very difficult for me I know a lot of people would've immediately casted Idris Elba, but to me I don't see him as a John Stewart. Then my mind came across Michael Jai White and didn't have any hesitations or doubts about him taking on the mantle as Green Lantern. If you've ever seen any of his films I think you'll agree with me that he can make you believe that he is a U.S. Marine veteran, can take charge when need be but still have control of his situation and have the sheer force and willpower that every Green Lantern should have.
- Martian Manhunter/ Idris Elba
As I said before Idris Elba to me does not fit well as Green Lantern, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't make a fantastic Martian Manhunter. To me it's all about the personality of the character that the actor has to portray, in this case J'onn J'onzz, now I know that sometimes the characters background can change and in this case I am going with the backgorund from the animated series where he is the last Martian survivor. With that in mind Elba kinda gives that same feeling in Thor and Thor: The Dark World as Heimdall, the only sentry guardian to Asgard and because of that he gives off the feeling of solitude. But the character J'onn also can be one of the strongest characters both physically and mentally he can have that leadership feeling time and time again. Now if you haven't seen Pacific Rim (and believe me I don't blame you if you haven't) Idris Elba has a great speech for his troops that instills hope in them and that is a trait that Martian Manhunter also has in the comics, the power of hope even when it looks like things are already lost. In my mind this would be the only role that I would have Idris Elba play.
- The Flash/ Ryan Reynolds
I know, I know a lot of people would think twice before putting Ryan Reynolds in a superhero movie again (especially after Green Lantern). But, like I said before it's all about the personality of the character the actors are playing and I feel Ryan Reynolds could be a great Flash if and only if he is dawning the Wally West version of [The Flash](series:1068303). All respect to Barry Allen but I don't think that Ryan Reynolds could pull him off, the character is too serious and we all remember the last time they tried a role like that with him. Now, Wally West is more of a loudmouth joking around kind of guy in a funny but sometimes obnoxious type of way, and to me the only actor that came to mind with that personality is Ryan Reynolds. I feel his personality and his look could fit very well in this film, plus with all the serious actors and characters that are already in this cast you need someone who can kinda cut the tension and get a laugh here and there.
- Batman/ Matt Bomer
I know I'm probably gonna get countless people telling me "wrong, wrong, wrong!", but he can be Batman. Matt Bomer has the look of Bruce Wayne down I mean look at the picture above and tell me that doesn't look like Bruce Wayne, and yes I will admit this I have seen Magic Mike and his physical appearance meets the standards of how Bruce Wayne's physique should be. His acting style is perfect for Batman, to anyone that has seen White Collar where he is a captured con artist/ thief makes a deal with the FBI to help catch other similar criminals, so let's think about that, GUY THAT THINKS LIKE A CRIMINAL TO CATCH CRIMINALS=BATMAN!. Myself not being a big fan of the raspy Bat voice that the Christian Bale Batman had (my only complaint about that incarnation of Batman) Bomer has that smooth yet intimidating voice like the Michael Keaton Batman had. There's no doubt that Bomer can't pull the most famous cape and cowl in all of comics history in my mind. If I could cast this movie this would be my Batman without a second thought.
So there is my Justice League, one can only dream for their cast to be put on the big screen and in my case I wish my dream would come true, but everyone has a voice so let me know who you agree with most and if you a different cast and would like to share it let me know below in the comments.
