So, the world has been gifted the Star Wars Episode 7 trailer, and it's adored. I actually went back and re-watched Star Wars: The Phantom Menace's teaser trailer just to get an idea of how superior this film is going to be. I mean this trailer actually made people cry as they recorded their reactions!
It seems that Star Wars may be finally concluding its greatness hiatus. In recent memory we've been met with the appalling new Star Wars trilogy, the not so successful Bioware The Old Republic game, and the cancelation of the awesome looking Star Wars 1313.
But now with J. J. Abrams and DICE at the wheel, we may be seeing the Star Wars franchise receive some well warranted justice. Seeing as Star Wars: Battlefront 3 was announced as being part of the Star Wars canon, what can we expect from this title next holiday season when it hits Xbox One and PS4? Just imagine what we'll be like this time next year, perhaps we'll already have Battlefront at home and our [Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens](movie:711158) tickets will be booked!
But with these two being released so close together and DICE having access to Star Wars sets and locations, how are these two games going to relate to one another? We know there definitely won't be any story elements from the film in the game, but we may be lucky enough to see some characters, locations and even some new worlds in Battlefront from episode 7!
Star Wars: Battlefront 3 & Star Wars Episode 7
If not in terms of plot, how do you think these two pieces will connect? Will we get to see the likes of this new Sith lightsaber in Star Wars: Battlefront? Perhaps the villain (Darth Revan?!) could be a playable hero! Perhaps one likely option is that we'll receive a faction that is based off the new film.
Will this include the Chrome Stormtroopers that we've seen along with the likes of Oscar Isaac's character as a playable hero? We're unfortunately too far away to give any real guesses as Disney has been rather vague with how much Battlefront will connect with the future of the canon.
But what new planets lie in our wake? I can see Battlefront including a planet that is based in the new Star Wars film. It'll appear as some kind of invention of DICE's but once we go and see the film, we'll realise that we've already played battles on one of the worlds in the film.
This is more than likely the way that DICE is incorporating elements of Star Wars Episode 7, in easter egg form. Perhaps we'll be able to uncover some memorabilia in a small area of certain maps, but I doubt it will feature actual references or plot points from the film.
Let us know in the comments what you think DICE is including in Battlefront from Star Wars 7!
