On Sunday I finally saw Hunger Games: Mockingjay- Part 1 and although i have thought this for quite some time now, its official, this fantastic film franchise deserves to be nominated for Awards beyond the MTV Movie Awards.

Here is why...

1. Original & Creative

Since the first Hunger Games novel was first published, this story has been considered an original tale. To create a post modern world where you can induct political aspects that are related to our society today is just pure creative thinking. The makers of the films have stood by the book series, not only through performances but visually from the crazy outfits to the scenery. It is well deserved to be nominated for more than best song at the Academy Awards, but for Best Costume Design.

2. The Performances

The performances have grown through the film series. Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson , and Elizabeth Banks have delivered performances well deserved for maybe not a win, but at least a nomination. We have seen these characters grow emotionally and Donald Sutherland has delivered with grace as the cruel President Snow. Added bonus, Julianne Moore and the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman have proven to steal every scene they have been apart of in Mockingjay Part 1.

3. It's just that Good

This film has proven to deliver the most important thing to audiences when they watch this which is the ability to feel for this story. The characters struggle, grow and the fact that in truth this series is a fairy tale tragedy makes you forget that this was even a young adult series to begin with. It's maturity and truth leads it to be fearless in not being the typical happily every after fantasy we are used to. It tells the truth about our society through it's well written and performed storytelling and that is what makes a great film.

This series is a thrill ride for both the hearts and the minds and I can't wait to see how it all ends in 2015.
