The Doctor is upon us ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to the 32nd CRAVE article: The [Doctor Strange](movie:559685) Villains we CRAVE! With the upcoming film being released on November 4, 2016, I thought it would be appropriate to do a CRAVE post for Dr. Stephen Strange. So, this list will consist of the villains I would personally like to see in the upcoming film or maybe even sequels. Again, this is my personal list, so lets not go crazy over an opinion.
Anyways, let's put on our Cloak of Levitation, grow some sexy facial hair, not be Liam Neeson (I like Liam) and get started!
Dormammu, along with his sister Umar, is a mutant member of an extra-dimensional society of energy beings called the Faltine. Unlike other Faltinians they were not perfect copies of their progenitor Sinifer and they hungered for matter instead of energy. They were banished from their home dimension for turning Sinifer into matter, which was considered the equivalent of murder. The siblings eventually discovered the Dark Dimension and insinuated themselves into the role of advisors to King Olnar. In exchange for power and protection, Dormammu and Umar taught Olnar how to exploit the natural pocket warps of the Dark Dimension and absorb other dimensions into it. When Olnar died in an attempt to conquer the realm of the Mindless Ones, the siblings used the opportunity to murder most of the Mhuruuks (the magical priest class under Olnar’s rule) and successfully sealed off the Mindless Ones from the rest of the populace. They secured rulership of the realm under the guise of heroes. Later on Dormammu would banish Umar into one of the pocket dimensions under his control, taking sole custody of the Dark Dimension.
If you're making a Doctor Strange movie it seems strange to not have Dormammu (I will be here all week folks). All jokes aside, Dormammu is the most obvious choice to be the main antagonist. With his amazing look, incredible power, and also him being the arch-enemy to Doctor Strange, Dormammu is the villain needed for the movie and I'm sure many people agree with me. Also, Dormammu could be the gateway to other awesome environments and characters to have the MCU expand even greater!
Originally a Transylvanian nobleman (born in Varf Mandra), Mordo became a student of the Tibetan sorcerer known as the Ancient One. When Mordo plotted to kill his teacher, the Ancient One's visitor, Dr. Stephen Strange learned of the plot, forcing Mordo to cast restraining spells to prevent him from warning his master or attacking him. When Strange selflessly decided to accept the Ancient One's offer to learn magic in order to help the old man, the Ancient One freed him from those spells, which he was fully aware were in place, and trained him as a formidable enemy of Mordo. Eventually Mordo was exiled by the Ancient One. Mordo's abilities were similar to those of Doctor Strange, but Mordo was particularly skilled at astral projection and hypnosis, as well as mesmerism. He was more than willing to use powerful black magic and invoke demons, both of which Strange was reluctant or unable to do, although both acts would sometimes backfire on Mordo.
I view him as the evil version of Doctor Strange. Like Dormammu, Mordo is an obvious choice for a Doctor Strange film. Not necessarily in the first film, but more of a sequel villain in my eyes. I hope that Marvel doesn't turn Mordo into a "Malekith and Laufey character" (meaning they're pretty forgettable villians). I want Marvel to explore Mordo, make him a deep villain that can really put up a fight with Strange, not just a weak character that people could care less about. It's all up to Marvel and they need to do him right!
Mephisto is a perennial villain in the Marvel Universe, and is responsible for a number of evil acts, including capturing and holding the soul of Cynthia Von Doom – the mother of Doctor Doom — until Doctor Strange and Doom free her to ascend to heaven. He was jealous of the worship of the fire demon Zarathos, so, posing as Satan, Mephisto creates the Ghost Rider by bonding Zarathos to Johnny Blaze. In one story where he battled Thor, he was shown to have various historical villains in his realm, such as Adolf Hitler, Blackbeard, and Attila the Hun.
Mephisto claims to have been created, along with many other demons, by the supreme being whose suicide resulted in the creation of the Marvel universe as well as the Infinity Gems. He also claimed that his total evil nature is because the supreme being did not choose to make him good as that being had no concept of it.
It is time that Marvel introduces their "devil"! Mephisto isn't only a cool, bad-a** character, but is a huge character in the Marvel Universe. Basically connected to every character in some way or form, Mephisto could possibly be include in, some way or form, in every Marvel movie. And what better way to introduce Mephisto by having him included in the Doctor Strange. Yes, I'm saying he should somehow be in the first movie and after that, be an important character in the MCU. Just my opinion, but that would be freaking incredible!
Do you agree with me? Do you disagree with me? Are you ready for some magic in the MCU? Well, tell me in the comments below, take them polls and follow me for more incredible stuff!
Next article: What we CRAVE for the Star Wars Sequels! This will be the first CRAVE article not based on Marvel or DC and probably be the most controversial article I will post, so get pumped!
Also, I'm aware that both Mephisto and Nightmare are associated more with Ghost Rider, but I think Johnny and Stephen can learn to share!
