Barry Burton, the unlikely cult star of Resident Evil, will be returning as a playable character in Capcom's latest zombified offering, Resident Evil Revelations 2! That's right, the man who brought you infamous, meme-inspiring lines such as "The master of unlocking", and "You were almost a Jill sandwich" is back.
Barry has become something of a legend among the Resident Evil community, adored largely for his laughable dialogue and stilted voice acting in the original game. Less of a protagonist, more of a buffoonish sidekick, Barry has always brought an endearing charm to the series. But now, finally, it's his time to shine!
A new trailer for Revelations 2 reveals that Barry will join Chris Redfield - the series' lead protagonist - as a co-lead character in the game. A press release from Capcom hints a little more about the game's story:
Headed for the remote prison island in search of his missing daughter, Moira Burton, Barry meets brand new character Natalia Korda, a little girl who has a strange power that allows her to sense enemies and hidden items.
Sounds intriguing, especially with Barry taking point. Since this is the first time a Resident Evil game has ever focused on Barry's story, perhaps fans will finally find out more about their cult hero's past through his daughter Moira...if he ever manages to find her.
Also, who is this Natalia Korda and what could this strange 'power' be? Will she be playable? Will we see a Natalia sandwich?! There are so many questions, but we'll have to wait until February to know more.
Capcom plans to release Resident Evil Revelations 2 in four separate episodes, across February and March, charging $25 for the entire bundle.
