Manipulate time and even the the course of a speeding bullet. Quantum Break brings back cult bullet time gameplay from the Max Payne generation.
What's so incredible?
A revolutionary entertainment experience that blurs the line between television and gaming. With Quantum Break, Remedy Games delivers the action-packed, fast paced game in which you bend and shape time in order to survive. Master unique powers, bending and warping time to outmaneuver and outwit the enemy. Epic moments of destruction, captured in time, become your playground.
How you play the game shapes your very own personalized version of the television show. Watching the show gives you strategies and insights that will impact the way you play the game and helps you discover unique content within the game. Together, the game and the show deliver a holistic entertainment experience, possible only on Xbox One.
Quantum Break is set at and around the fictional North Eastern U.S. Riverport University where a time travel experiment has gone wrong. The event not only causes time to break down, but also grants the three main characters Jack Joyce, Beth Wilder, and Paul Serene have the ability to manipulate time. For example, Serene, the main antagonist, can see into the future to decide which choices to make in the present; while Joyce, one of the two protagonists, can stop time. The two are pursued by Monarch Solutions, a corporation founded by Serene.
And yes, a Quantum Break television series is also in production, with Remedy stating that "how you play the game impacts the show, and the show informs how you play the game."
Below is a 16-minute Quantum Break video, captured on Xbox One. It's an extension of the Gamescom showing from August that includes footage shown to journalists behind the scenes, so odds are you'll have seen a lot of it before but then again you might not so, enjoy! - The gameplay commentary is potentially coming from this guy! What do you think?
While developing the game, developers Remedy Entertainment consulted a scientist lecturer who had worked at CERN who taught them how to write the plot in such a way that it adhered to current theoretical physics.
Quantum Break will be released on Xbox One in 2015.
What really pulls me into this game is the obvious links to its predecessor Max Payne. Max Payne was and still is one of my favorite gaming experiences. Almost all the gameplay involves bullet time-based gun-fights and levels are generally straightforward, occasionally incorporating platforming and puzzle-solving elements. I am hoping and praying that Quantum Break brings the best of Max to the Xbox One.
