Among the heart attack hype of Krysten Ritter's casting as Jessica Jones, it seems that Marvel has decided to drop the biggest D-Bomb on us ever - a [Doctor Strange](movie:559685) bomb, that is - and one that's been highly anticipated from the beginning.

Basically: PHEW! Okay, look, its been months of will-he-or-won't-he, and after Joaquin Phoenix infamously backed out of the role, all eyes turned to Cumberbatch and Jared Leto. Yesterday, Leto was confirmed to play the Joker in WB and DC's upcoming [Suicide Squad](movie:2283363) movie, leaving the rest of the world to breathe easy (or at least those of us who really didn't want to see his huge eyes over and over again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe).

Not to sound smug, but reading over Alisha's many articles on this, it's pretty safe to say that we've been waiting for this one. She wrote on how he was well aware of the rumors, and covered the close possibility of his talks going down a while ago. Granted, Cumberbatch fans have been egging Marvel on for months, and fan art has run rampant across the internet.

So, Sherlockians, Smauginites, and Cumberbabes: there you have it. This one's for you. He's now officially part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and we'll be seeing him in more than just one movie for certain. The Infinity War just got a whole lot more British!
