Somewhat unsurprising, but cool nonetheless. Our friends over at Entertainment Weekly have confirmed reports that Ryan Reynolds is close to signing an official deal to reprise his role as superpowered mercenary Wade Wilson in the upcoming Deadpool film.
It should be interesting to see, given the events of X-Men: Days of Future Past, just how much the upcoming film will have to do with the character Reynolds played in the disappointing X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
If you ask us, the lesser the better.
The new film is said to be much closer in tone to the Deadpool comics published by Marvel which, fans of the character know, will undoubtedly be bloody and over-the-top.
In any case, it's exciting to see that the fan favorite actor will once again be reprising his role of the Merc with a Mouth once again. Let's just hope that this time the character is given his due.
And, if you needed a little more convincing that Reynolds will once again be taking up the role, check out what he posted to his Twitter account yesterday...
Tim Miller is directing Deadpool, from a script drafted by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Production on the highly anticipated film is said to begin this March!
