Villains are remembered more then the heroes themselves. The reason why is because how much audiences like them. They come off as so interesting, badass, tragic, relatable, or just likable. They are usually remembered more and liked then the heroes of the movies. So I'm listing off the best movie villains.
Once more this is personal opinion. Don't be upset if any villains you like aren't here. Sit back and enjoy.

10. Wicked Witch of the West (Wizard of Oz movies)

What kid doesn't know of this nasty witch? The thing most people agree that made the Wicked Witch scary was her cackling voice, and how hellbent she was on killing Dorothy. She completely despised her to no end. But for good reasons, sinse Dorothy kinda killed her sister and stole her shoes, but even with that the Witch is still evil to no end. Another thing is the development of her character. Books, plays, and other movies have made this evil witch into a much more complex, depressing and kinda tragic villain. The Wicked Witch is on this list for how memorable she is.

9.Voldemort (Harry Potter)

Voldemort returning has been a fear for all Harry Potter and fans. In the previous movies we didn't know where he was but we felt his presence and when we saw his return in the books, and movies it sent fear down the spines of many.

Ralph Fiennes portrays Voldemort wonderfully. He has a nice charm to him, but can flip right away becoming an insane madman. Voldemort has had some of the best fights in the movies too, when taking on Harry. When he is on screen everyone pays attention to him. When he speaks you can see why people follow him.
One thing I notice though, as the films progressed Voldemort continued to descent into Madness but Fiennes became more over the top with his acting.

8. Freddy Krueger (Nightmare on Elm Street)

Almost all horror movie fans know who this great slasher is. Freddy Kruger is a child murderer/pedophile who was murdered by the angry parents of Springwood. So he came back as a dream demon to get his vengeance on their children. Stalking them in their dreams, then finally killing them off one by one.

What makes Freddy different than most killers is his voice. Before he kills you he taunts you. Makes fun of you. Seeing you scared brings sheer joy to him. When he sees his victims scared you can tell he enjoys it. Another thing is how much he does to scare them. He either uses their personal fears, or does stuff to scare them, like mutilating himself. In my opinion a killer who enjoys what he is doing, and jokes about it is much scarier then a silent killer.

7. Annie Wilkes (Misery)

Any Stephen King fan know this character, and it is possibly Kathy Bates' most famous role. Annie Wilkes is the number one and obsessive fan of writer Paul Sheldon, who she saves after a car accident. At first she seems very sweet and kind, but slowly we see a darker side to Annie. We all know she is completely insane, and wants Paul all to herself. Another thing is that anything could make her snap at any moment. From a simple thing like having the wrong paper, or him leaving. And of course the most brutal scene is when she breaks James Caan's ankles. Two more things I enjoyed about this villain are that she helped Paul write his best work in the Misery series, which ultimately led to her demise.
Finally even though Annie is dead, there is the idea that the memory of Annie, all the pain that she caused him will never be gone.

6. Calvin Candie (Django Unchained)

Even though in my opinion Samuel L. Jackson was the real villain, Calvin Candie stole the show. Leonardo DiCaprio owned this role perfectly. He played a pimp/slave owner who just enjoys the pain of others. He is a complete sadist, and sociopath, and I love the character. The reason why is of course the performance, and writing. He is the type of guy you want to hate, but he is also a gentlemen, and sophisticated individual. He is the polar opposite of Dr. King Schultz. In some ways they're enemies, and this shows with King's former profession of being a dentist and Candie's name.

5. Alex DeLarge (A Clockwork Orange)

Again the performance, and writing is what makes this role amazing. Malcholm McDowell Plays this insane sociopath teen perfectly. Alex is also scary because he is 15, and does all these heinous acts. But again much like Candie, there is a charm to him that makes you enjoy them. He is obviously very sophisticated, as he manipulates others' emotions, and listening to the works of Beethoven. Also at the end of the movie Alex is the same, if not worse than he was before. Alex represents the idea of the adults not being able to control youth. Also wondering how a youth can end up doing this. The movie gives no clear answer.

4. Hannibal Lector (Silence of the Lambs)

One of the roles that made Athony Hopkins famous. Doctor Hannibal "The Cannibal" Lecter has been known by many horror and movie fans. Doctor Lecteris, a former psychiatrist, eats people. The scariest scene with him is when we first see him. He is just waiting for Clarice, as if he already knew she was coming, and was smelling her from down the hall. Lecter is creepy, but also a very gentlemanly villain. He respects people of high intelligence, and won't go after people he likes because it would be rude. His past is also very tragic. We also learn why he eats people. This role has also been portrayed by other actors from the Movie Manhunter, and the current Hannibal series. Both actors portrayed Lecter well, But Hopkins owns the role.

3. The Joker (multiple)

The Clown prince of Crime has been portrayed by many. Caesar Romero, Mark Hamill, Jack Nicholson, Kevin Richardson, John Dimaggio, and of course Heath Ledger. Every actor made this role their own, and made a great foil to the Dark Knight. May people consider Hamill, Nicholson, and Ledger as the best Jokers. One thing I noticed from the three was this: Ledger's motive was to spread Anarchy and Chaos, Nicholson's is Anarchy and Chaos, and Hamill's Joker is also both. The best scenes of each was this: Nicholson's scene in the Museum was corny, and hilarious, and the Joker saying "I make art till somebody dies." Is creepy, and insane at the same time. Ledger's best scene was the scene where he interrogates the fake Batman. The shaky cam, the dialogue, and Ledger's performance made this scene freaking scary. For Hamill's joker there are so many, but the one I remember is when he taunts Batman about torturing Robin to madness in Return of the Joker. We don't see what else he does, but the look on Batman's face lets us know . Now Jared Leto is set to take the role and I think he is perfect.

I cant wait to see the Clown Prince of Crime take on Suicide Squad and the Dark Knight.

2. Tyler Durden (Fight Club)

Tyler Durden had a great philosphy: Live your life. Don't buy into consumerism. Don't be a slave. But it was to the extreme. What made Tyler awesome was of course the portrayal by Brad Pitt. You can tell he had fun with this role. Another thing I like about Tyler is he didn't care what he did, or how he did it. He did it because he wanted to. He also was a man who saw through BS. A line I always loved was this.

Another thing I like is how well he planned. He created a nation wide terrorist orginization, and in the end he won. Project Mayhem was a complete success, the Narrator learned the lesson Tyler Wanted, and he essentially made everyone credit zero. In the end Tyler Durden won.

1.Ozymandias - Adrian Veidt (Watchmen)

Ozymandias is our number 1. Portrayed by Matther Goode. Adrian Veidt is a former superhero, who essentialy created World Peace. I preferred his plan over the comic. Not that it was bad, but I felt the idea of turning the world against Doctor Manhatten worked better for the movie. But, like Tyler and other villains on the list, he ultimately wins in the end. He caused the deaths of millions, and even outsmarted the most powerful being in his world. He is also the complete opposite of Rorschach. Rorshach is an asexual republican, while Ozymandias is a sexually ambiguous liberal. But the main question the come from Ozymandias is this: To achieve World Peace how far will we go to achieve it? Are we willing to sacrifice innocent lives? If we do achieve world Peace how long will it last?
