Where you can find the strength to go on when everything seems lost in an instant? How do you still believe in your dreams and in those people who obtained your faith? Where do you find the solution? How to survive?
These are questions to which, a simple guy like Jared Leto, has fully answered with one of the most beautiful documentaries in the history of music... ARTIFACT ...
Artifact was released in 2012, directed by Jared Leto under the pseudonym of Bartholomew Cubbins, originally, it had to follow his band, Thirty Seconds To Mars, during the recording of the new album... but...then became a battle to defend their love for music, to protect their dreams, a legal battle with EMI that presents a lawsuit for $ 30 million after that the band tries to exit his unsatisfactory contract.
With enormous pressures, stress, fears, an uncertain future, between meetings with lawyers and deadlines to respect, great songs are born and they will be part of their third album that Leto will call "This is War".
But with Artifact Jared does not shows us only what is happening in his life. He also shows us the real situation concerning the relationships between the major record labels and their artists, also with some interesting interviews to other musicians, journalists, producers and employees EMI that give their own experiences in the business and explain how a record company works.
And when the film ends, in my opinion, the amazing "gift" that it leaves inside us is not who wins or who loses this war, but it is the will to find a right solution, the courage to fight for a dream, to believe, to have faith, to take a risk because you know you're doing something with all your heart and soul, something "...phenomenal, pure, true, that touches the core of every person, that will live forever..."
Jared Leto, his brother Shannon, Tomo Miličević and their team have worked so hard for this extraordinary project which, finally, it has had and is having the right success. In 2012 Artifact received the People's Choice Award for Best Documentary at the Toronto International Film Festival and the Audience Award at the Gotham Independent Film Awards. Later, in 2013, it was released on DVD through the online VyRT platform (https://beta.vyrt.com) and during the "Love, Lust, Faith + Dreams Tour" (2013/2014) it was screened in many cinemas all over the world with the possibility, after the screening, to meet Jared and to talk with him about the movie, discussions really interesting and touching to which, sometimes, I had the honor to participate.
In February 2014 BBC Worldwide picked up international television rights to distribute the film.
And in these weeks Jared is giving us another masterpiece, another documentary, “Into The Wild”, in episodes that we can see, at the moment, every sunday on VyRT platform, a film that tells about the tour of the album “This is War” which started just from my Italy with a concert that was, as Jared says, "a disaster" but it became a success surpassing 300 concerts and entering in the Guinness Book of Records as the longest tour in music history.
So, for who loves the music, I invite you to watch "Artifact" and “Into the Wild”, to continue to believe in your dreams and don't forget that “Sometimes we must fight in order to be free” (J.Leto).
