So I'll admit, I haven't seen CW's Flash yet. Mainly because I've been busy watching so many other shows; Constantine, Arrow, Once Upon A Time, etc. But maybe with The Walking Dead being on break until February I'll give the show a chance. Though I still haven't watched the 2014 Flash television series, being a fan of classic super hero shows I did watch the 1990 Flash television series that aired on CBS.
So imagine my surprise and shock when I heard the news that Mark Hamill would be joining the cast of the new Flash show! Not only that, but he's reprising his iconic role of The Trickster!
But before you go thinking that this means some sort of weird time-influenced crossover between the 2014 Flash and the 90's Flash (even though that would be awesome!), CW has reported that will be a lot different from the goofy prankster seen in the 90's version:
“In this new iteration, The Trickster is an anarchist terrorist con man serving a life sentence in Iron Heights who helps Barry (Grant Gustin) and Det. West (Jesse L. Martin) to foil the city-wide attacks of a wannabe Trickster eagerly following in the original's deadly footsteps. The episode will reunite him with John Wesley Shipp who went up against him as the original 'Flash' on the CBS version."
Apparently CW has wanted Mark to reprise his role since they first planned the Flah series, and were completely ecstatic when he agreed! I share their feelings towards Mark Hamill returning to the screen as James Jesse (Trickster)!
Mark isn't the only original Flash cast member to return to a role. John Wesley Shipp played the original Barry Allen/Flash in the 90's series and is currently playing Barry Allen's father in the 2014 series.
And Amanda Pays will reprise her role of Dr. Tina McGee in the episode "The Man in the Yellow Suit".
Mark Hamill will reprise his role the Trickster on the 17th episode of this season of the Flash, which will fall somewhere in the Spring of 2015!
The Trickster isn't the only DC villain Mark Hamill has played however; Mark has voiced the Joker in countless DC Animated projects and the first two Batman: Arkham games! He's also famous for playing Luke Skywalker in Star Wars Episodes 4-6 (A role he'll also be reprising in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens)!
So are you excited about Mark Hamill's return to an Iconic role like the Trickster?
