The latest chapter of the legendary fighting franchise is on the way and it's exclusive to PS4 and PC.
The Sony and Capcom announcement this weekend is sure to have made Street Fighter fans who own Xboxes pretty unhappy. Street Fighter 5 is likely to be the biggest fighter release of 2015.
Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, has weighed in on Street Fighter V's PlayStation 4 and PC exclusivity:
"Business deals happen. We won't do all of them. When we have a first party franchise in a genre I'd rather invest in ours," Spencer said on Twitter, when asked what he thought of the announcement.
However cross-platform play available with the Playstation network will unite Street Fighter fans into a centralized player base for the first time ever.
Phil Spencer says on Twitter that Microsoft can't win every business deal, and that he'd rather invest in Killer Instinct, Microsoft's own fighting game franchise.
A fair point but Killer Instinct is still lacking exactly that and although a brilliant fighter, Street Fighter 5 will always be a fan favorite. Thoughts?
"There is a mix of deals to do," he said. "But making sure we own IP [that] Xbox gamers love is critical [in my opinion]."
Spencer went on to say, "I'd love it if Xbox fans could play all the games, but business just makes some deals happen. It's all part of competition."
More will be revealed in the coming months so stay tuned and hit that follow button!
