Or, should I say: Agent Skye of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is now the Inhuman known as Quake? BAM!

BOO-Yah!

Wow.

Did I mention… ?

Wow.

Big episode. Big, big episode. The term "Inhumans" hasn’t yet been dropped, but, we’ve seen at least 3 (and, if Quake’s dad is also an Inhuman rather than his comics origin of having gained his powers through experimentation with medicines and chemicals), then 4 and, if Antoine Triplett is not dead, then 5 Inhumans in S02/E10: What They Become. And, there could be more and we just don’t know it!

No... not these...
No... not these...

Is Whitehall dead? He was shot, but he has Inhuman DNA (extracted from Skye’s mom) flowing through him. If he’s not dead, what is he? His death was far more simplistic than I would have thought a character of his magnitude would suffer (shot in the back by Director Phil Coulson while he wasn’t even looking), but that could just have been a mechanism to keep Calvin Zabo / Mr. Hyde / “The Doctor” from having that blood on his hands, too – a lesson in ethos: Revenge does not alleviate the pain – it only grants momentary pleasure until the thoughts of the pain inevitably return.

If Whitehall is dead, who is the next “head” that will pop up for Hydra? We know Baron Von Strucker has the “Miracle Twins” from the Post Credit Scene in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. And, we know he is Hydra. So, he’s probably the “next” Hydra head our heroes face. Hydra has hundreds of heads running around, so we will never actually run out of them.

Yup. There he is – hosting the Avengers in Avengers: Age of Ultron. What a class act! Nice castle, too!

Sidebar: Skye (air/wind) Quake (earth) Rising Tide (water) … there’s an element I’m missing here, somewhere. Fire. Hyde? Nope. Hydra? Nope. Fire… hmmmmm…. Ponderings.

Nope... "hot" doesn't necessarily equate to "fire"

Well, we now know for certain that Skye’s birth name was Daisy. We know that she is an Inhuman. We know she was just granted her “power” but it has not yet been revealed what that power might be. However, in the Marvelverse, Daisy Johnson, illegitimate (in the comics, but, apparently, not in the MCU) daughter of Dr. Calvin Zabo aka Mr. Hyde, is an Inhuman. And, she is an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. eventually, for a time, ascending to the Directorship of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Late Tho't: If Daisy is Zabo's "legitimate" daughter (her mother was his wife), now, wouldn't she be Daisy Zabo instead of Daisy Johnson? Need ta see yer birth certifi-kate, young lady... !

So, there you go. Agent saved – the show (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) will go on and Skye will continue her role on ABC TeeVee. For now. As Skye. For now.

Also, it sets her up for entry into the Movieverse. Quake has the capacity to be a significant hero with the power to literally “move earth”. I don’t think she’ll be in Avengers: Age of Ultron (she hasn’t been spotted anywhere on the set the way her television partner (and witness to, at least, the first part of her rebirth as Quake), B.J. Britt aka Agent Antoine Triplett has). But, I would be shocked if she doesn’t have a significant role in Captain America: Civil War. And, I’m placing her solidly on the side of Iron Man / Tony Stark / Stark Industries – along with her soon-to-be-newfound-friend, Maria Hill.

Nope. Yup. ...er...
Nope. Yup. ...er...

And, maybe Skye/Daisy will be the one to introduce us to Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel)! There is some speculation that Director Coulson would initially become Captain Marvel (he has the Kree DNA in his system), but I don’t see it. Captain Marvel, to me, needs to be a little more charismatic (read: bigger than life – Coulson is life and an excellent example of humanity – but, he’s not Captain Marvel big. He’s not even Nick Fury big, personality-wise.) I don’t see Coulson as Marvel – but, I do see him as someone who will, eventually, be exposed to the Terrigen Mists and will become a significant character. Won’t Thor and his buddies be shocked when Super Phil drops in alive and, well, more than well.

As for Skye, I had been wondering if she would leave the show once she got her powers. It would have left a significant hole in the show as It Was All About Skye up to now. But, since we now know she is Quake and that Quake continued as an “Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.” throughout her career, I don’t see Skye leaving. And, I think Chloe Bennet likes her job working in television, so I’d assume she is staying put and only occasionally venturing onto the Silver Screen.

And, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. begat ... The Inhumans!
And, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. begat ... The Inhumans!

But, now we have superheroes on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.! Too cool. And, they’re Inhumans! So, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., essentially, becomes the prequel to the 2018 Inhumans movie! We get to watch them set up that movie weekly on ABC-TV!

Way to go, Marvel!!!

And, maybe Vin Diesel will be Black Bolt!

What about Triplett? Did he die? If so, what’s B.J. Britt doing in action on the set(s) of Avengers: Age of Ultron? Maybe, just maybe, he also transformed. And, his transformation gave him the ability to vaporize into ether or teleport or just become invisible. Imagine being a secret agent who could turn invisible… woah. I don’t think they could pay you enough to keep you around! You’d really, really have to be dedicated!

Resurrected? Transfigured? Dead? ... Tripp?
Resurrected? Transfigured? Dead? ... Tripp?

We do know that he was struck in the chest by two fragments of the Terrigen Crystal after he roundhoused it into shards trying to save Skye. We do know that he was overcome in a charcoal-like casing – or whatever that stuff is that engulfs humans when they touch the obelisk / Diviner. We do know that he is an awesome actor we’d all love to see stay on the show. And, we do know, from reports, that he was on the set of A:AoU. What we don’t know was his role (or, if he really had one and wasn’t just an invited guest) on the set of A:AoU.

Then, again, maybe the person reporting got Anthony Mackie (Falcon) confused and though he was B.J. Britt. They do look a lot alike (very similar builds). Here’s hoping we get to stay on our Tripp and it isn’t tRIPp (saw that somewhere - pilfered it).

Update (where's my "sadness" icon?): Triplett is dead. Even B.J. Britt (the actor who plays him) says "it is so". So, stories theorizing that Trip was going to be in Avengers: Age of Ultron just can't be true any longer. The excitement generated thinking that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. would cross over into the MCU is now muted.

Not killed, exactly - I'm sure that S.H.I.E.L.D. will have some sort of presence with, possibly, Maria Hill (who is now Tony Stark's Chief of Security at Stark Industries) or former director Nick Fury. Maybe current director Phil Coulson will make a surprise (to the Avengers, for sure!) appearance and represent the ABC offering.

Hawkeye and Black Widow (both former agents who, technically, I guess, still are...?) will have to carry the flag for us, though.

RIP Trip. I'm guessing that "sighting" of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Trip may, actually, have been Anthony Mackie (Falcon) as they have very similar builds and Falcon is associated with Captain America.

Now… Mr. Hyde is still out there. And, he is royally ticked at Coulson for pre-empting the revenge that was long-planned for Daniel Whitehall. And, we know Skye sent him packing after threatening to kill him. And, we know he doesn’t give up on a grudge – from what we’ve witnessed, firsthand on AoS and from what he’s shown in the comics in his dealings with Thor’s alter-ego, Dr. Donald Blake. (It seems Blake wouldn’t hire him because of some “rumors” of more than one agency where Zabo worked being robbed.)

Relationships 101: Daddy - Daughter
Relationships 101: Daddy - Daughter

Zabo tried over multiple appearances to kill Blake only to have that pesky Thor get in the way. Maybe he should go after Thor and then, once he's neutralized Thor, he could kill Blake. He is certainly strong enough, as Mr. Hyde, to give Thor a really good go of it.

Only, in the MCU, Thor isn’t Blake (at least, not in a permanent sense) and Blake / Thor have never encountered Zabo and Zabo is already Mr. Hyde so he doesn’t need the research resources and capital that he would have gotten from robbing Blake and his associates.

Did you get that? Good. Now, run it by me and I’ll let you know if you got it right.

Drifting...
Drifting...

Agent 33/Ming Na is now rudderless, again. Skye tried to re-recruit her back into S.H.I.E.L.D., but she wouldn’t leave Whitehall – she was desperate for his “guidance”. Now, it looks like Grant Ward is her new Svengali. And, since Skye put 5 or 6 slugs into his side with zero remorse and nada in regards to hesitation, I’m wondering what his emotional state in regards to her would be these days.

So, Ward and Agent 33 have now spun off into their own realm and are, apparently, no longer working with “The Doctor”, Calvin Zabo / Mr. Hyde nor are they affiliated with Hydra; although, unless Ward can deprogram her, she will still be susceptible to their coercion because of her succumbing to the Faustus Device that Whitehall and Bakshi used on her.

Missing in Action
Missing in Action

But, I think you can count on their continued association with Coulson’s team (and Skye/Daisy) as Ward sorts through his feelings for Skye. But, for now, he’s probably gone the way of Deathlok.

Raina, on the other hand… very interesting. We saw her in her “cocoon” as the Mists overtook her physical self. And, we saw it begin to crack… showing us her one, now very amber-colored eye with … quills? Feathers? Thick hairs? surrounding that eye. She is something. But, what? We won’t know until the season resumes after Agent Carter’s run through January and February.

Hey, Raina... Whatcha get?
Hey, Raina... Whatcha get?
Orange-brown eye... And, quills?
Orange-brown eye... And, quills?

And, being a morally-neutral character, she could turn up just about anywhere in any circumstance. But, I think she has a respect for Coulson. And, with that respect, I think she will be more likely to … at least not actively seek the destruction of our favorite superspies … slip into and out of the lives of the crew on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for some time.

She’s an Inhuman. And, she and Skye are now on the Inhuman hunter, The Reader’s, radar as the obelisk he possesses alerted him to the appearance of “new Inhumans” in the world. It will be interesting to witness the significance of his entry into the Marvel ABC realm as we careen giddily toward that 2018 release of The Inhumans movie.

Marvel will show 'em how to do the non-humans!
Marvel will show 'em how to do the non-humans!

Somewhere in there, Marvel Studios is going to find their Hugh Jackman or their Jennifer Lawrence. Along the way, they certainly will find their own Ian McKellen or Michael Fassbender. There’s got to be a James McAvoy or a Patrick Stewart out there … somewhere.

Then, the Inhumans will be off! And, the movie we will see will rival anything Fox has done with the FoX-Men. Shoot, it could rival Guardians of the Galaxy! I see a crossover in there, somewhere.

Somehow.

A Magical Season
A Magical Season

I could go on for hours. What this episode (S02/E10) has set in motion in the Marvel Cinematic Universe should never be underestimated. What fans of the movies are going to discover won’t be underestimated. They will discover all the things they’ve been craving in the movies has been going on weekly on ABC and viewers will flock to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

And, they’ll flock to Netflix to see what Marvel has got going on over there, too. Very good things are happening in Marveldom and … here we go! Just make sure your grip is secure.
