Welcome back to the fourth installment of my NEED articles! For those of you that missed my previous article, I have decided to add something new to my articles. After each suggestion, I include a percentage. This percentage represents the probability that the suggestion will actually appear in this show or movie.
In the off chance that you didn't read the title of the article, today I will be talking about the Suicide Squad Members We NEED! For those of you who haven't seen the casting news about the movie so far, check it out here. For obvious reasons, I will not include any characters already cast. Also, be sure to check out my previous article, the Green Lantern Villains We NEED! And be on the lookout for my next article, the DC Villains We Don't NEED!
Deathstroke (Slade Wilson)
Deathstroke is the world's greatest assassin/mercenary and an enemy of the Teen Titans. Originally a soldier in the U.S. Army, he was part of an experimental super-soldier project where he gained enhanced strength, agility and intelligence. His vendetta against the Titans began when he swore revenge for the death of his oldest son Grant; his other two children would go on to become Titans members as Jericho and Ravager. Traditionally his actions have been limited by a strong personal code of honor, although his motives became more villainous following the death of his wife Adeline Kane. Through this time his only steady companion is his loyal manservant Major Wintergreen. He has been a member of Checkmate, H.I.V.E., the Injustice League, the Secret Society of Super-Villains, the Titans and Titans East.
Who doesn't love Deathstroke? If there is a character that deserves to be in the same league as Deadshot and Harley Quinn, it has to be Deathstroke. If you haven't seen the finale for Arrow Season 2, the Deatstroke vs Arrow fight makes it all worth while. Arrow proved that Deathstroke is ready for the big screen, and the Suicide Squad is his chance. It would also be interesting to see someone who commands respect and authority like Deathstroke butt heads with Deadshot. I see Deathstroke being the member of the Suicide Squad that constantly challenges Deadshot and Amanda Waller's authority.
King Shark (Nanaue)
King Shark is a super-villain and humanoid shark. His father is Chondrakha the God of all Sharks, and his mother is a human woman. For years he acted as a serial killer in Hawaii before his presence was discovered by Superboy. Briefly during Sword of Atlantis he became Aquaman's sidekick. He has been a member of the Secret Six, the Secret Society of Super-Villains and the Suicide Squad.
King Shark is a personal favorite of mine. Yes, he is a shark man. And yes, he does eat humans. And yes, he is bad ass. The way I see King Shark being introduced would be through the upcoming Aquaman movie. King Shark could be a lower level baddie sent at Aquaman by Black Manta or Ocean Master. Aquaman would defeat him and hand him over to Amanda Waller for the Suicide Squad. If DC is truly trying to create a connected film universe, they should have characters that cross over into other movies outside of the Justice League movies. Plus, wouldn't it be awesome to see King Shark literally tear through his enemies?
El Diablo (Chato Santana)
Chato Santana and his gang are busted by the police and he is shot and arrested. In the hospital, Chato comes into contact with the original El Diablo and is given the powers of a minor wrath of vengeance by Lane, who was in a living coma. The transfer was complete after Lane died. He comes into conflict with the Freedom Fighters and eventually begins to grow more heroic. He is currently a member of the Suicide Squad, seeking redemption for his past sins.
El Diablo is another personal favorite of mine. This is the third incarnation of El Diablo in DC Comics. This guy is the one member of the Suicide Squad, the New 52 incarnation at least, that was offered a chance to leave the squad, but decided not to. Amanda Waller gave El Diablo the chance to leave the squad, since he wasn't insane like Harley Quinn, or an assassin like Deadshot. El Diablo decided to stay on the squad to repent for his sins. His character has tons of potential and could add some humanity to a squad of criminals. Since DC seems to be pursuing the diversity of the Suicide Squad (Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang), adding a Latino character would be a great choice for the movie.
Black Spider (Eric Needham)
Clock King (William Tockman)
