Warning: potential Walking Dead spoilers coming up. If you don't want to know anything about new characters arriving on the show, back away slowly.

The second half of Season 5 is going to see the long-awaited introduction of a fan-favorite comic book character who might just rival Darly Dixon in the "cool as f--k" stakes.

A couple of weeks ago, TWD creator Robert Kirkman dropped this bombshell:

...coming back in our next half of the season, we're going to be introducing a very prominent gay character from the comics that'll be debuting.

There are two prominent gay characters in the comic. One is called Aaron, who the group meets on the road to the Alexandria Safe-Zone, but the other is someone much more badass.

His name is Paul "Jesus" Monroe and he is awesome.

See, awesome
See, awesome

Those of you who've read the comics will know that "Jesus" is someone not to be messed with. Not only has he got the coolest nickname this side of the apocalypse, but he's basically a ninja who revels in roundhouse kicking walkers all up in the grill.

Like this:

Roadhouse style

He's part of the community of survivors over at the Hilltop Colony - a walled community neighboring the Alexandria Safe-Zone - and first comes into contact with Rick's group when they are on a supply run in Washington DC.

In fact, he manages to overpower both Abraham and Michonne with his kick-ass hand-to-hand combat skills and guile.

Loads of guile
Loads of guile

Don't worry though, "Jesus" soon becomes a trusted member of Rick's crew, even becoming one of his most trusted allies.

However, one of the most interesting things about Jesus is his sexuality and it's going to be so awesome to get a truly badass gay character on the show.

He's also wily

Basically, Jesus is going to do awesome things for the new season of The Walking Dead.

I want to hear from you guys now. Who do you want to see cast as Paul "Jesus" Monroe?

Can Jesus be as badass as Daryl?
