In the last two weeks since [The Walking Dead](series:201193) Season 5 mid-season finale aired, the creators of the show have suffered a huge backlash over their decision to kill off fan favorite, Beth Greene.

Earlier last week we reported about a petition directed at AMC and Showrunner Scott Gimple which at the time had almost reached 10,000 signatures. The petition now has just over 50,000!

But fans of Beth haven't stopped at just the petition to vent their frustrations with AMC and the writers of The Walking Dead. In fact, they've moved onto a very creative way of showing their displeasure at Beth being killed off: they're sending spoons to The Walking Dead producers. Yep, you read that correctly, they're sending spoons. Why you might ask? Well as it turns out it's a nice little tribute to Beth.

Back in Season 4, episode 12, Beth found a Washington D.C. souvenir spoon when her and Daryl come across a country club. Many fans took this spoon to mean that she was supposed to join up with her sister, Maggie, and brother-in-law, Glenn, who were on their way to Washington D.C., via Terminus. Obviously, Beth did reach Washington D.C. but the next time her sister saw her, she was dead.

Now advocates for Beth have been flooding The Walking Dead producers with spoons in order to show their anger at her untimely death. Organizers of the spoon movement have asked that participants send a box of plastic spoons, each with their favorite Beth quote, moment or "simply her name" written on them to show the producers how they feel. Check out the poster below for more information:

The spoons are already being sent in thick and fast, take a look at a few that were posted on the campaign Facebook page 'Beth Greene Deserved Better

Wow! Clearly a lot of effort has gone into these from some very passionate fans, I have to say, it's nice to see such an active and engaged fan base, but then I expect nothing less from viewers of such a great show like The Walking Dead.

Filming for Season 5 of The Walking Dead has wrapped so there seems very little chance we'll see Beth in Season 5B, but with all of these protests against her death, who knows what might happen in the future.

The Walking Dead returns to AMC on February 8th, 2015
