2014 was probably one of the best years for horror games. These games include the captivating Five Nights at Freddy's and Alien: Isolation. Would you dare to play these games in the dark?
Amnesia: The Dark Descent
This horror game sure had players jumping out of their seats. Although the game was originally released in 2010, it's still making headlines. The game introduces Daniel, the for sure protagonist, making his way through an ancient castle. Throughout the castle he encounters monsters the make things go bump in the night, and has to solve puzzles. This is all because of his sudden Amnesia and a foreboding letter that was given to him.
Still not scared? What about the next game?
Dreadhalls is a maze game, with plenty of jumpscares as well. What's a good horror game without jumpscares? My point exactly.
You must find the way out of the catacomb-like jungle, all while avoiding mysterious gargoyles and Grudge-like women. This game was made for the OculusRift, a headset that switches your vision for a game.
Alien: Isolation is a good throwback game, bringing us to the movies we all thought were quite terrifying.
You play as Amanda Ripley, the daughter of Ellen Ripley (remember her?). Everything seems to be back to normal at the station, until, of course, one day... The Alien is back, and more vicious than ever. The worst part: You're stuck in an abandoned part of the station with him. You have to stealth around, turning back on the power, and trying to save others you find along the way.
But be careful, because if you're not... He might as well just find you.
The Evil Within
The Evil Within is one of the most top rated horror games this year. If this doesn't make you s*** your pants, then I don't know what will.
You are Sebastian Castellanos, working alongside your fellow officers. After investigating a grisly scene at a hospital, and after watching your own colleagues get murdered, you wake up in an apocalyptic-like state. You meet a few others while trying to defend your life, and also discover more about yourself- than you needed to.
Haunted with psychological visions, and monsters trying to rip your heart out- That's not a party you want to go to.
Five Nights At Freddy's
This game is a fan favorite, and is also one of my most beloved horror games out there. It brings a whole new thought to the horror genre- Animatronics trying to kill you. Yeah, we all thought they were creepy when you were brought to Chuck E. Cheese's as a kid. But now? This is even worse.
You are Mike, the brand new security guard at Freddy Fazbear's pizza. You are guided by who they call "phone guy" throughout each of your nights. There are four beloved characters in your presence: Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy. The bad part is, is that they're not just free roamers- They're blood thirsty.
To wrap this list up, we have Outlast. Outlast is by far one of the most brutal, graphic, gory games you could play. Some people can't even sit through the first five minutes of the game- and that's when you're only trying to break into the asylum.
You are Miles Upshur, a reporter who was assigned to find out the truth behind Mount Massive Asylum. Your timing couldn't have been any worse. As soon as you get inside, it's a massacre, with lunatics everywhere you go. To severed heads in toilets, or guys with really messed up faces- it's enough to make you want to escape.
What did you think of this list? Are you going to play any of these games? Or are you too afraid?
