For those that don’t already know, there is still hope for Mandarin fans! Remember how letdown we all felt about the Mandarin in Iron Man 3? In case you don’t remember, the plot was kind of odd. In the movie, The Mandarin and the Ten Rings was a cover-up orchestrated by the head of A.I.M. (Advanced Idea Mechanics), Aldrich Killian. The cover-up was used to mask A.I.M.’s prime directives of testing the Extremis virus and to gain political leverage by kidnapping the president of the United States. As the movie unfolds, we’re introduced to the failed British actor Trevor Slattery whom Aldrich Killian hired to portray the Mandarin in propaganda videos.

It has been widely speculated as to whom exactly is the Mandarin in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Is it Aldrich Killian? He did kind of call himself the Mandarin right? Or is it Trevor Slattery, the one that everyone generally knows as The Mandarin? Make sure you’re sitting down for this one…

Included with the Thor: The Dark World blue-ray is a Marvel One-Shot titled, “All Hail the King”. This short obviously takes place after the events of Iron Man 3. I’ll let you see it for yourselves…

The most exciting part of this One-Shot for Mandarin fans is the fact that neither Aldrich Killian nor Trevor Slattery are the actual Mandarin, and that the Mandarin and the Ten Rings that we know from the comics could be very real in the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This is a great twist and considering the fact that the Marvel Cinematic Universe would not be taking a step toward the magical aspect until Phase 3 with the upcoming [Doctor Strange](movie:559685) film; its timing was perfect!
