Since it aired on Cartoon Network last year, ten-episode min-series Over The Garden Wall has been a fan favorite when it comes to whimsy, adventure, and the occasional existential horror. Created by Patrick McHale, best known for his work on The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack and Adventure Time, fans embraced the fun and unexpectedly eerie and beautiful series, and as always, with fan love comes loads of lovely works of art.
So today's offering of fan-created awesomeness comes courtesy of talented cosplay artist http://nipahdubs.tumblr.com/Nipah, all decked out in a relatively simple but faithful Wirt rendition. I came across this lovely cosplay on the artist's official blog, and knew I had to feature it.
Here's what the cosplay artist had to say on their shoot:
I didn’t plan on cosplaying Wirt but I am glad I did, this outfit was fun to make and even more fun to do a shoot for! Hope you guys like my cosplay!
I sure do! Thank you so much, Nipah, for sharing your creativity with us! Readers, enjoy!
While the whole thing is great (and I love the choice of setting), I think my favorite part is the makeup. It charmingly emulates the stylized cartoon look, while looking good on a living, 3-D model.
Led through the mist by the milk-light of moon
All that was lost is revealed
Our long bygone burdens, mere echoes of the spring
But where have we come, and where shall we end?
If dreams can't come true, then why not pretend?
—"Into the Unknown"
As always, thank you very much for reading, and if you can, please show the artist some love. Fans run on positive energy, whether for their fandom of choice, or in the good reactions from people who smile at their creative works.
