The Guild of Nerds

These two have been best friends for 75 years now, but the rivalry has gotten stronger than the friendship. People are debating left and right over Superman vs Batman, who's better. Arguments range from "Superman's practically god" to "Batman with prep", and it's gotten a bit annoying. So, what I'm going to do, is put the argument to rest.

NOTE: This is a 100% unbiased argument. Results have nothing to do with popularity, but with pure, solid, fact.

To begin the debate, let's meet the contenders.

REAL NAME: Clark Kent, Kal-El

TITLE: Man of Steel

AGE: 31

HEIGHT: 6'1"

WEIGHT: 235 lbs.

POWERS: Super strength, speed, senses, flight, heat vision, x-ray vision, arctic breath, radiation absorption, limited telepathy, limited telekinesis, near immortality

WEAPONS: Phantom Projector

TRAINING: Torquasm Rao (Jor-El), Torquasm Vo (Jor-El)

WEAKNESS: Kryptonite, magic, strong morals

ORIGIN: Superman is born Kal-El on the alien planet Krypton. His parents, Jor-El and Lara become aware of Krypton's impending destruction and Jor-El begins constructing a spacecraft that would carry Kal-El to Earth. During Krypton's last moments, Jor-El places young Kal-El in the spacecraft and launches it. Jor-El and Lara die as the spacecraft barely escapes Krypton's fate. The explosion transforms planetary debris into kryptonite, a radioactive substance that is lethal to superpowered (as by Earth's yellow sun) Kryptonians. The spacecraft lands in the rural United States, where it is found by a passing motorist. Jonathan and Martha Kent adopt Kal-El and name him Clark Kent. As Clark grows up on Earth, he and his adoptive parents discover that he has superhuman powers. The Kents teach Clark to use these powers responsibly to help others and fight crime as Superman.

REAL NAME: Bruce Wayne

TITLE: Dark Knight

AGE: 42

HEIGHT: 6'4"

WEIGHT: 210 lbs

WEAPONS: Batarangs, electric gloves, kryptonite ring, WayneTech battle armor, Bat-darts, flash-bang grenades, glue grenades, cryptographic sequencer, Bat-claw, collapsable Bat-sword, Bat call, explosive gel

TRAINING: Art of Shadows (Ras Al Ghül), judo (Alfred), boxing (Alfred), MMA (Alfred)

WEAKNESS: Mortality, the stock market crashing

ORIGIN: Bruce Wayne is born to Dr. Thomas Wayne and his wife Martha, two very wealthy and charitable Gotham City socialites. Bruce is brought up in Wayne Manor, and leads a happy and privileged existence until the age of eight, when his parents are killed by a small-time criminal named Joe Chill while on their way home from a movie theater. That night, Bruce Wayne swears an oath to spend his life fighting crime. He engages in intense intellectual and physical training; however, he realizes that these skills alone would not be enough. "Criminals are a superstitious cowardly lot," Wayne remarks, "so my disguise must be able to strike terror into their hearts. I must be a creature of the night, black, terrible..." As if responding to his desires, a bat suddenly flies through the window, inspiring Bruce to take on the persona of Batman.

Now that we've got the stats, let's get the rules out.

-Battle ends in death, but morals are on

-Both have 24 hours prep

-Battle takes place in Times Square

-There's no outside help

-Both only have access to the aforementioned weapons and powers

Now, remember. This I can say without bias.

I know I'm gonna get a ton of hate for this, but the fact is Superman is OP. Even if Batman has prep, which he does, Superman can just charge up in the sun for his 24 hours, it's only fair they both get prep. That also means they both have access to their gadgets. One blast from the Phantom Projector, and Batman dies in the Phantom Zone from lack of oxygen.

Now, I know what you're thinking. "Batman has kryptonite." Right? Well, let me tell you about Metallo.

Metallo is a Superman villain with a heart made of kryptonite. Superman has beaten him several times throughout his career as a hero, and will most likely beat him again in the upcoming Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (March 25, 2016) . He can open his chest cavity to reveal a massive chunk of kryptonite to weaken Superman, and also has kryptonite laser vision. Yet Superman still beats him. Why?

Because Superman can power through kryptonite, the same way you get through the day without a cup of coffee on 3 hours of sleep. It weakens him, but not to the point where he's completely disabled.

Now, which would cause him more damage: A small 1 cubic inch of kryptonite, or a heart sized piece of kryptonite. It's obviously the heart, so the small ring would allow him to power through.

But what about all those times Bruce beat Clark in the comics?

Yes, Batman has beaten Superman a few times, but none of their fights were ever canon. The only canon fight between the two Batman won was in Hush, in which Superman is not only fighting Batman, but Poison Ivy, as she has kryptonite lipstick able to control the Man of Steel.

And even in Hush, Batman admits on the next page that Superman would beat him.

If Clark wanted to, he could use his super speed and squish me into the cement. But I know how he thinks. Even more than kryptonite, Clark has one big weakness. Deep down, Clark's essentially a good person. And deep down... I'm not.
-Batman (Hush)

So, even in Batman's most widely regarded comic book, Batman says Superman can beat him.

So you're thinking one of a few things, so I'm not going to leave it up to me. Who do you think would win: Batman or Superman?

Who would win?
