In the last episode of Arrow "the climb" Oliver is aparently killed at the hands of Ra's Al Ghul. Many of us ( me included) are hopefully thinking that he will return to the world of the living in the next episode of the series, but that might not happen. Here's why.
After the airing of the episode Stephen Amell went to Facebook to explain the shocking mid season finale, and here is what he wrote about:
"Despite the title, our show is bigger than any one character. We're going to prove that to you. Sit tight... January will be here in no time".
Later Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim talked to comicbookmovie about the future of the show saying:
"One of the things I was very straight with Colton [Haynes] about is I don't think we serviced his character quite as much as we would have liked in the first half of [season 3]. I'll say the stuff that he's got in episodes 10, 11, and 12, it's pretty dang gangbusters. There's one scene in episode 11 between him and John Barrowman that I think is some of his finest work on the show."
Another thing that might hint we won't see Oliver for a while is that the producers told us that episodes 10, 11, and 12 will be focused more on the transition of Laurel Lance as the Black Canary. So right now all the news I found concerning the show have nothing to do with Oliver Queen A.K.A the Arrow.
Also Marc Guggenheim worked as a writer for Marvel and DC comics were killing a main character to have someone else pick up the mantle (in this case the hood) is totally normal. so who knows, maybe this will end up happening...
I'm not saying that the character is truly dead and won't be coming back, but all the evidence points out that we might have a small vacation from the Arrow and other characters will take the lead in the next few episodes.
