Early yesterday, what seems to have been an administrative hiccup occurred on Zack Snyder's Cruel & Unusual Films website: under the company's Motion Pictures tag, a roster of their films displayed the now-classic photo of Ben Affleck's Batman from the upcoming [Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice](movie:711870). Images for each film are shown in black and white - when users hover over the image, it displays in color. Such was the case for Batman vs Superman, though it seems as though the hover ability has been taken away. Oops!
At any rate, here's the color photo, at the best quality we could grab:
It may not be the biggest surprise - if the suit were anything other than the usual black and grey (save for the Adam West Batman, of course), Batfans like me would certainly be thrown off.
On top of that, fans have been creating their own color versions of the shot, originally by Zack Snyder himself, and they've gotten... creative. Check it out:
This manipulation doesn't have a credit behind it - I found it on GeekTyrant - but it relates to Kevin Smith's prediction that the batsuit in Batman vs Superman would be akin to the suit he wears in The Dark Knight Returns, which the movie is rumored to be based off of.
Gail Simone is one of my favorite comic creators, and her obsession with Catman (who stars in her new comic, Secret Six) led fans to create this manipulation of the cranky blond vigilante, courtesy of Snyder's photo.
Peter Satera's recolor of the photo is easily my favorite - the HD version is beautiful! - and while it does hold cooler tones than the official photo, I actually kind of prefer this one.
Imgur user smthcrim89 did a really lovely recoloring, once again based off of The Dark Knight Returns comics. The full-size version is gorgeous, so check it out here!
And then, of course, there's this manipulation that Ali Arikan shared on twitter... and that several sites (ourselves included, you naughty creators) are using pretty often. Heh heh heh.
