That's right, DC Comics fans! Sources have informed the guys over at Latino Review that Viola Davis has been cast as Amanda Waller in David Ayer's upcoming Suicide Squad film.
In the comics, Amanda Waller is a former congressional aide and government agent often placed in charge of the Suicide Squad, a semi-secret government-run group of former supervillains working in return for amnesty.
Now, given her already full schedule, thanks to the hit ABC show How To Get Away With Murder, it will be no small feat to work around it. However, there is no doubt Ayer and his team will find a way to make this work.
As nothing official has been announced from DC Entertainment nor Warner Bros., we'd advice all to take this story with a grain of salt - for now.
If this pans out, Viola Davis will join the already spectacular cast of Suicide Squad, which includes the likes of Jared Leto as the Joker, Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Tom Hardy as Rick Flag, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, and Cara Delevingne as Enchantress.
The film, which begins filming in Toronto, Ontario this coming Spring, will hit theaters as part of the slowly expanding DC Cinematic Universe in August 2016.
