I don't know about you guys, but I am one of the biggest [Hannibal](series:721010) fans out there. Although Season 1 impressed me, I found Season 2 to be a lot more fun (not to mention a hell of a lot gorier), and I binge watched all 13 episodes in less than 2 weeks. Now Mason Verger (played by Michael Pitt) was a character that I hated to the core - but he really made the show interesting, and his acting was absolutely phenomenal. So no, of course I don't want him to leave the show.
Luckily for us, the character of Mason Verger won't be leaving the show (as after the last few episodes, it is clear he will have a big part in Season 3) - but unfortunately the incredibly talented Michael Pitt will be. Pitt will be replaced by actor Joe Anderson (Horns, The Grey) who, although easy to tell apart from Pitt, has a similar appearance.
I don't know if this change in actor will affect the show massively (as long as they get his voice right!), as Mason was made to cut off the lower half of his face in the late episodes of Season 2, making him look drastically different.
So, although I'm in no way happy about the idea of changing the actor halfway through a TV or film series, I find that the actor behind Mason could be less noticeable - if Hugh Dancy, Mads Mikkelsen, or Laurence Fishburne were to leave the show on the other hand, then I'd likely be protesting.
How do you feel about this change? Do you think it will drastically effect the show, or be barely noticeable? Be sure to let me know in the comments section below!
