The latest leak from the Sony Entertainment hack has revealed Idris Elba, star of The Wire, Luther, and Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, is one executive's favorite to replace Daniel Craig as James Bond.
Elba had already expressed his desire to play the suave, shaken-not-stirred character in a recent Reddit AMA session. When one user asked, "If it were offered to you, would you be the next James Bond?" Elba replied, "Yes, if it was offered to me, absolutely."
According to The Daily Beast, it appears Sony executive Amy Pascal is as equally enthusiastic about the idea.
In yet another leaked Sony email, Pascal sent a memo to Elizabeth Cantillon, former executive vice president of production for Columbia Pictures, the company which distributes the Bond films, on January 4, 2014, which simply stated,
“Idris should be the next bond.”
And they're not the only ones who'd love to see this happen; Twitter was buzzing with excitement at the prospect of Elba becoming the first ever black 007.
The charming but tough Elba looks to be topping everybody's James Bond wish list.
