It all started with Arkham Asylum. Then Arkham City, Arkham Origins, and now Arkham Knight. What an amazing gaming series. But as the old saying goes, all good things must come to an end. Batman will no longer be explored by Rocksteady.
"We’ve done all we can do here," Dax Ginn (the producer of Arkham Knight) says. "It’s…it’s kind of time for us to walk away from it."
But that doesn't mean they walk away from the whole of DC. They have an infinite number of DC characters to turn into gaming franchises. Here, I have decided to list a few of the possible franchises (or the ones I want to see) and the likelihood (out of 5) of them happening.
Likelihood- 4.5 Personal- 4.5
To be honest, everyone loves Nightwing. He is a kick ass Batman sidekick that turned into his own hero and lead the super team Teen Titans. We only got a little glimpse of him in the Nightwing DLC from Batman: Arkham City and we would love to see more. He doesn't need to interact with Batman at all since he is based in Bludhaven. It would also continue the street level type of vigilante experience that we get in the Batman Arkham series.
Likelihood- 4 Personal- 5
Who wants to go a little darker. Jason Todd, the least favorite Robin was voted off by fans only to return as one of Batman's best villains. It would bring in Ra's Al Ghul and the League of Shadows into a larger light and could or could not interact with Batman. We would see a more gory and ruthless story and see at least some villains get what was coming. We are all excited to play the Red Hood DLC in Arkham Knight and would love to see more. If the Arkham Knight survives its namesake game, then we could see a team-up between Red Hood and him or even a rivalry. It would show the anti-hero crime fighting we want to see in a game.
Likelihood- 4.5 Personal- 4
Green Arrow would be an interesting game. The gameplay would have to change drastically from the Batman games as Green Arrow uses well.... bows and arrows. There wouldn't be too many gadgets other than a goofy boxing glove arrow and some tranquilizer arrows. Also he is such a similar character to Batman, he is a rich man with a multi-million dollar company with his name on it and has his own Arrowmobile and an Arrowcave. They would have to make the gameplay, the look, the story, and the tone very different. There is also an issue with CWs Arrow. They would need to make theirs different from the show so not too many people say "Oh, it's all the same!". We would truly enjoy using a bow overall though. It could use Batman since their friendship in the comics is important. Also, the tease we got from CWs Arrow star Stephen Amell on his Facebook saying he is voicing Green Arrow in Arkham Knight adds to the likelihood.
Likelihood- 3.5 Personal- 5
Now this would be cool. It would have a completely different tone to Batman. A lighter and more adventurous tone. It would be cool to introduce time-travel into the Batman Arkhamverse. His powers could also be explored very well and it wouldn't have to rely too much on flying. We could also get some cosmic battles in this. The use of Batman would be pointless or slightly interesting. It would introduce new characters with new backgrounds and power sets that we would never seen in Batman.
Likelihood- 4.5 Personal- 5
This could easily incorporate into the Arkhamverse. We had a Suicide Squad set-up in Arkham Origins. Why not continue that. It would include super powers and skill sets into one game. We could see a bit of Killer Frost or a bit of Lex Luthor and it could still work (not that I want Lex or Killer). The cast of characters would have to be the same as Assault on Arkham and could easily change throughout the series and could include Batman a few times. The game play would be difficult but could be used if done well. The story lines would also be amazing and would bring in characters like Joker again.
Likelihood- 2 Personal- 4
The Flash would be harder to pull off the gameplay. The storylines would be amazing and would include many characters but mostly deal with superhumans. It could introduce brutal villains and amazing fight scenes. It would set-up a Justice League game better than any other possible gaming franchise. It would have the same problem as Green Arrow though. It would have to be very different than CWs Flash.
Likelihood- 2.5 Personal- 6
God of War. Successful. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. Successful. Batman Arkham. Successful. Now what if we mixed all three? The gameplay would be amazing. We would have the Greek mythology and badassery of God of War, the strategics of Black Ops 2, mashed into a Batman-like game. We would be introduced with new weapons and we would have armies of Amazons at our disposal. We could have battles against Atlanteans or armies of other countries. We would be using magic, powers, and weapons. Wonder Woman doesn't have a lot of credit because of her sexy image but that can be changed with a badass game or two. We would obviously see the #600 costume to continue with the look of Arkham and it could include any character it likes without messing it up too much. This franchise has endless possibilities.
Likelihood- 3.5 Personal- 4
In Arkham, we get very little technological networking (if that makes sense). We would get a crap-ton of gadgets and a more war-like tone. It would branch off from the hacking Batman uses and could also be used to set-up a Justice League game. It would deal with the US military and could introduce Superman better than Flash, Batman, Wonder Woman, or Booster Gold.
Likelihood- 2 Personal- 4.5
Static is an interesting character. A super-powered street crime-fighter. This would basically be Batman only powered up. It could help put together a Teen T Titans game series and would have some pretty sick gameplay. It could have any other character appear other than Wonder Woman and still work.
