I recently read through Patrick Ness's Chaos Walking series (The Knife of Never Letting Go, The Ask and the Answer, and Monsters of Men) and I was very happy to hear that the movies are currently in development.

For those that don't know, the books are about a boy who lives on a planet in a town called "Prentisstown" where there are no women and the thoughts of men can be heard by anyone. You can even hear the thoughts (or "Noise" as it's referred to in the book) of animals. The main character, Todd, is the last 'boy' in Prentisstown and he is a month away from becoming a man in the eyes of everyone else. This worries him because every one of his friends who became men changed and are no longer his friend. The town is full of some people that make him very uneasy, such as the mayor of Prentisstown, Davey Prentiss, and his son the sherriff, Davy Prentiss Jr. Todd lives with two men, Ben and Cillian, who run a farm just outside of town. His mother along with all the other women were killed by the 'disease' that makes their thoughts audible. It was said to be a defense tactic by their enemies, the Spackles, during the great Spackle war. Our story begins with Todd and his dog Manchee going to fetch some apples by the stream, which is the quietest place in town, and he feels something strange. A gap in the noise. He fears it is a spackle, but when he tries to chase it, it gets away.

That's all I want to say about it because I don't want to give everything away for those who haven't read it, but it is a fantastic read and I am not ashamed to say that I stayed up till 2 in the morning reading the last 250 pages because I just couldn't stop.

Since nothing has been announced about who is gonna direct it, or star in it, I wanted to do some early fan casting because who doesn't love fan casting. I hope those of you who have read the book will participate, because no one I know has read it yet and I can't discuss it anywhere else.

Max Burkholder

I believe Max is going to be around for a long time, and he really deserves it. He is mostly known as Max on Parenthood where he plays a kid with Asp-burgers and he really knows how to win to your heart. Especially last season with the problem with the canteen? You guys know what I am talking about. I am really gonna miss that show.

He would be great for Todd because of Todd's innocence and curiousity reminds me a lot of what Max is on Parenthood. Only a LOT more emotional. He is the perfect age to play the part, and he is a lovable actor.

Ariel Winter

Or Alex on Modern Family as she is known. She has been around for a long time, but we might not have noticed her. She was in the pilot episode of Jericho, she was in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, and she was the lead in Opposite day before she made it onto Modern Family. She is a very young, beautiful and talented actress who, like Max, is a rising star.

She would perfect for Viola, in my opinion, because she can play smart and strong which is what Viola is. She has the acting chops to pull of the lead in a young adult movie trilogy (or quadrilogy if they do the whole "let's turn the last book into TWO movies" thing). The whole time reading these books, both Ariel and Max were the two people I pictured.

Mayor Prentiss

Nathan Fillion

I. Love. Nathan. Fillion. I mean, who doesn't? Which pains me to cast him as the bad guy, but both the second and third book really convinced me that he would be the best person for the job. The next paragraph will have SPOILERS, so please be warned.

Mayor Prentiss becomes someone who keeps the promises he makes to Todd and is able to remain evil, but seem like he is just trying to survive in their crazy world. He even grows to love Todd as a son and is proud to be fighting by his side. Nathan is a handsome guy, a brilliant actor, and could charm an entire world to do what he says. I believe there are other people who could pull this part off, but Nathan would be my first choice.

Davy Prentiss Jr.

Devon Bostick

My wife and I started the 100 a couple months ago, and this is the only thing that I have seen Devon in. He does a really good job on the show, and it seems like he could pull off Davey

Davey is a bully who really just wants his dad to love and respect him. He is not much older than Todd, but isn't as smart and strong as he is either.

Cary Elwes

Between Robin Hood Men in Tights, and the Princess Bride, I will always be a Cary Elwes fan. He is a great actor, and Ben seems like the perfect role for him. He is not in it a lot, but he is a crucial part to the story. He is one of two father figures for Todd and has cared for him since his mother died. Next paragraph has MAJOR SPOILERS!!!

Cary is a strong actor who I think could pull off the sadness of losing both his partner, and someone who he considers his son better than anyone. He has the face of 'sad but strong'. He is also a trustworthy looking guy that I know if I were an alien race, I could easily trust him if he learned to speak my language.

Giovanni Ribisi

Now, let's just pretend that Dads and 1,000,000 ways to die in the west didn't happen and let's remember Gone in Sixty Seconds, Flight of the Phoenix, Basic, and Saving Private Ryan. Great actor, right? Right. Again, the warning of SPOILERS is coming back into play.

Cillian (pronounced 'Killian' by the way), is kind of a small role, but an important one. He does die very early on, but it's his death that really haunts Todd throughout his adventure. He was never a fan of Cillian because he was always so strict, but he did love him like a father. And he was Ben's partner. They were just friends, but they did love each other as much as they loved Todd. They were a family that was split up because of the horrible secrets of Prentisstown.

Michael Shannon

Now, I have to give CandeeCass22 credit for this choice. She posted this idea on the message boards on IMDB, and it was such a good idea that I had to mention it. Michael Shannon is a great actor, and if any one else plays Aaron, they will not do as good of a job as Michael Shannon. Yada, yada, yada SPOILERS AHEAD!

Aaron wasn't the most twisted person in the book, but he was very crazy. In the first book, he is the main villain. His death was supposed to be from the hands of Todd. It was planned for Todd to kill him for a long time, and Aaron even volunteered for it. To become a man in Prentisstown you kill someone. Todd can't kill. Michael can look so crazy and so determined you don't know what he is going to do next.

These are the main people from the first book. There are lots of other people I would love to see involved, like Kathy Bates. She would be great in the second and third movies. I do have a couple more ideas....

All the Spackle!

Alan Tudyk!

How awesome would that be? The Spackle all look alike, and I feel like Alan Tudyk could pull off every single one of them.

I am not sure who I would want to see direct it. I wouldn't want Chris Columbus (First two Harry Potter movies, first Percy Jackson movie), or Gary Ross (First Hunger Games). I would love it if Nolan, Gilliam, or Abrams could do it. They need a good director who can tell a story.

So if you guys have any disagreements or anything, please let me know. I spent a lot of time thinking who would be best at what, and I am not ashamed to admit when someone has a better idea.
