Well I can honestly say I haven't seen as many movies at the cinema to what I seen last year and the year before. But I've seen most of the biggest movies like Guardians of the Galaxy, Interstellar and the final instalment of The Hobbit so I should be ok with this list. This year hasn't been as memorable with movies compared to previous years, but there has been some pretty mind blowing moments. Comic book movies have taken the year by storm, which is only going to get bigger in years to come. I've been impressed with most the movies I've seen this year because even some of the disappointing ones have had some awesome moments.
Before I get started I will say, be prepared for spoilers if you haven't seen the movies that Im about to mention.
THANOS - GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY
Ok so I would be mad to leave this moment from Guardians of the Galaxy out as it was simply breath taking. I can not stress how excited I am to see Thanos join the MCU. I am crazily excited to see the Infinity Gauntlet become a part of the Cinematic Universe so just seeing this short scene was truly amazing. I was a bit skeptical about Josh Brolin's voice for Thanos but when I heard it I was amazed by how good it was. Guardians was a great movie but if Im gonna be totally honest, this very scene stole the movie.
CAESAR DEFEATS KOBO - DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES
Now I think its safe to say that most people were surprised at how brilliant this movie turned out to be. There were many powerful moments but the ending where Caesar makes his come back and leaves Kobo to fall to his death was the most memorable for me. After Caesar was shot and left wounded, Kobo took over and launched an attack on the humans. You can't really blame Kobo for his hatred against the humans but unfortunately that took him down a dark path. In the end Caesar defeats him and rises back to power which was a great part of the film. I was unable to get a decent HD clip from this part of the film but Im sure most of you that have seen the film know what Im on about.
GWEN'S DEATH - THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2
Despite the movies criticism, Gwen Stacy's death was a memorable part. I have to be honest, Im not the type of person that can easily even begin to cry because of a sad moment in a movie. But this really stabbed me in the heart. I've been a fan of Spider-Man since a young age and seeing the girl that meant the most to him die the way she did was very upsetting. Gwen's death was one of the most shocking deaths to ever happen in the comic world and this part in the movie did not disappoint. It was a little alternated in the movie, but still good enough.
AMY KILLS DESI - GONE GIRL
One thing that David Fincher has proved again, is that he is the master of pulling of intense scenes. I was shocked by how well this scene in the movie was done. You knew something bad was going to happen to Neil Patric Harris's character Desi but right in the middle of a sex scene made it all the more shocking. When the two are having intercourse Rosamund Pike's character Amy pulls a box cutters knife out and slices Desi's neck. The music and the camera shots at this point of the film were incredible done. You don't usually see a half naked woman with blood all over her body get up and walk away from a guy with their throat slit on the bed in a movie. But this movie proves that a female can be just as good a psychopath as a male. The movie hasn't been released digitally or on DVD/Blu-Ray yet so I don't have a clip. However I will leave the music that was played during that scene.
STEVE VS WINTER SOLDIER - CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER
DEATH OF KILI, FILI AND THORIN - THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES
Again no clip for this one as its still in theatres. I've put a spoiler sign over this one as the latest Hobbit movie is more recent.
SENTINEL'S VS X-MEN - X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST
ATOMIC BREATH - GODZILLA
And now for the number one movie moment of 2014...
ENDURANCE EXLOSION - INTERSTELLAR
Interstellar was a phenomenal movie in my opinion, the story was great, the visuals were stunning and the score was incredible. The acting was a major quality of the movie too. Christopher Nolan's deep space sci-fi was just mind blowing and the scene that stole the film was when Dr. Mann attempted to dock his ship on the endurance and then BANG!!! Everyone in the theatre jumped, Han Zimmer's score really starts to kick in and I was there griping onto the arm of my chair. My eyes were frozen onto the screen like many more in the room probably were. It was just such an epic scene. Like some of the previous movie moments, I don't have a clip to the scene but Im sure everyone who enjoyed this movie wouldn't forget that moment.
Well thats it for 2014 movie moments, was any of your favourites listed above? Leave a comment below. Haven't done an article in a while so I should have a few more on the way soon.
