Now, when it comes to Star Wars, there isn't really any way to succinctly describe my default response to the upcoming Episode VII: The Force Awakens. It's something along the lines of child-like over-excitement, but since it always seems to come with a side order of overwhelming joy, nervousness and spinal shivering, it's probably safe to say that it's a whole lot more complicated than my usual relatively restrained geekery.*
The only problem? Isaac was about reveal something that might just blow every one of our fan theories out of the water...
Specifically, when asked about what he thinks of the theories floating around the internet, Isaac responded...pretty emphatically:
"I can’t speak for the cast and crew, I can just speak for myself, but for me I thought, Don’t you want to wait so you can get the real thing? But it creates excitement for it. I don’t think these little leaks necessarily ruined watching the trailer. And also, the [plot theories] that get that formulated based on these things — they couldn’t be more far off-base."
So, wait a minute...Just to double check...
"the [plot theories] that get that formulated based on these things — they couldn’t be more far off-base."
All of them?
But...that means that - if Oscar Isaac is right - that...
Every Star Wars: The Force Awakens Fan Theory on the Internet is Wrong
Including, but not limited to (and, note, the below are still potential SPOILERS):
And, of course...
Now, it's entirely possible that Isaac is just messing with us - or at least exaggerating for effect. After all, a few of those rumors (in particular the Finn and Rey-related ones) seem to have been fairly well supported by the trailer - and some come from pretty reputable sources.
If not, though, we could be set to see a very different Episode VII in December 2015 than the one we're currently expecting - and a year to come of rumors that are way off the mark.
Which...might actually be no bad thing - depending on how you feel about going into a movie not knowing what's going to happen. In the meantime though...
Back to the drawing board, gang!
What do you reckon, though? Are any of the current Star Wars theories accurate?
* Note, geekery restraint does not apply when LEGO, Marvel, Firefly, The Princess Bride, any sort of comic book or Harrison Ford are involved.
