Well this is a turn of events. Thanks to Superherohype, and Reddit, we now have new content for [The Avengers: Age Of Ultron](movie:293035). Marvel Studios has released several promotional images for the 2015 blockbuster. These images include the Black Widow's new costume, Hulk taking on Iron Man in his Hulkbuster armor and of course The Avengers. However what was more surprising were the images for Ultron and Vision. These two characters are factors eagerly awaited by fans as a lot of mystery surrounds the film's villain and the android avenger. Thanks to this promotional art, we now know the origins for Ultron as well as Vision in the upcoming movie, and the details seem a little different then what I was speculating.
The plot synopsis revealed that Ultron would not be necessarily created by Tony Stark as many moviegoers have speculated. The synopsis stated that Stark would find an old program an the A.I. would eventually transform into the movie's antagonist. From this promotional profile, these previous details are accurate; with one exception. The profile states that Ultron's program was discovered due to the Chitauri's invasion of New York. I believe that this detail is just a way for Ultron to tie in with the first movie. It could be unnecessary, but I do like that the filmmakers are trying to connect this film with its predecessor; even if it is a minor detail. Aside from this new information, Ultron's profile goes as expected stating that the mechanical menace has one goal in mind: wiping out the human race.
If there has been any addition to this film with more mystery surrounding him, it would be The Vision. As comicbook fans know, Vision's origins tie in with Ultron as the android was built by the villain to face the Avengers. With Ultron's origins being changed for the film, it only made sense that Vision's backstory would go through changes as well. Recent reports stated that Vision would in fact be created by Ultron, but this new profile tells a different tale. It seems that Vision will fact be a creation of Tony Stark and Bruce Banner. This change in Vision's background could work in favor of the movie, but it still raises some questions. The report that said Vision would be created by Ultron came from an interview with director Joss Whedon. That story gave enough reason for Ultron to be instigator in Vision's creation, but that may no longer be the case. Perhaps this move is for the best. There is a lot of factors playing into this blockbuster. Maybe having a subplot of Ultron creating Vision could be one too many.
Then again, there could be a way for both factors to work together. Tony and Bruce create Vision, but Ultron finds a way to manipulate the android at first; only for Vision to come to his senses by the film's end. More details on the character will have to be revealed for this theory to be true; and those details could be scarce as we get closer to Avengers 2: Age of Ultron's release. Again there is much we still do not know about Vision in the upcoming film. However,it is good have some details on Vision's role in Avengers 2: Age of Ultron; and we now have a full look at the character's design (which I have to say is an impressive design to say the least).
The details on Ultron and Vision continue to intrigue. Some of the information was to be expected, but there are many factors unknown to us such as Vision's role in the film. Hopefully however things play out, these two mechanical characters will shine in the upcoming blockbuster and be great additions to the Marvel Studios Alumni.
Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters on May 1, 2015.
