As far as being crafty goes, I'm absolutely hopeless. I imagine that attempts at cosplay would, at best, end in an explosion of hot glue, feathers, and glitter. Basically, a disaster.

The Redditor Kialna, on the other hand, has casually created a costume of Smaug, which she wore to the London premiere of [The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies](movie:512312). Sure, this amazing cosplay leaves me thoroughly impressed. But I'm just a lowly Internet writer and my opinion doesn't really matter. You know whose opinion does matter though? The voice Smaug the Terrible himself, Benedict Cumberbatch!

While many of us would be swooning from merely being in the presence of the 'Batch himself, Kialna was able to keep calm and collected. Apparently Benedict was about to do an interview and actually stopped to take a picture with her! Here's her rough transcript of how their interaction went down according to her Reddit thread:

“Can I take a photo with you?” He asked me.
“Yes of course you can! But I just want you to sign the tongue!”
“Are you sure? The tongue?”
“Yes, the tongue.”
“Wow you’ve just earned yourself the weirdest fan-encounter I’ve ever had.”
“I hope it was a good one.”
“Yeah definitely.”
“Nice to finally meet you.”
“Nice to meet you too.”

What. A. Dream. And of course, he did it.

Here are some more pictures of Kialna's Smaug costume while it was in progress and then the finished product:

Dragon Skin and Skull

It looks wet and shiny and I want to pet it.

Dragon Hands

Because even gold hoarding dragons need a drink from time to time.

Aint nothing getting through this armor!

Through the magic of leggings and some sort of duct tape wizardry, Kialna made this happen.

Please excuse me while I go sit in a corner and ooze with jealousy at her talent.

The finished product!

Now let's just hope she's not feeling too Smaug. Ooooooh yeeeeeah! Way to go, Kialna! I am happy for you, but also very jealous of your skills.

If you cosplay, please comment with your favorite fandom or some pictures. We'd love to see your hard work!

How would you rank your cosplay skills?
