[SPOILER ALERT] – PLEASE STOP READING IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED EPISODES 1 – 9 OF ARROW SEASON 3!
There is no doubt that Arrow's second season was one of those rare instances where a show actually grows to include more character development, complex villains, and an overarching story that is strong enough to carry the viewers attention. With all this in mind, it was definitely worth seeing where the producers would take Arrow during it's third season. So, what were the top moments?
With Roy's addition to the show back in season one, everyone knew at some point, Roy would suit up and aid Oliver in his quest to save Starling City. The question was, which route would producers take? Would he be Speedy, Red Arrow, or Arsenal? It only took three seasons to answer that question. Now...the next question...will Roy lose him arm?
9. Arrow vs. Cupid
Not many of us have crazy stalkers (okay, okay, we do) that try to take us out when we refuse to be with them. Especially the kind who know how to fight, and somehow learn to use a bow and arrow very well...blessing in disguise anyone?
8. Felicity's Mom Comes to Town
Oliver and Diggle's family have already been introduced on the show. It's only fair for us to meet the mother (and at some point the mysterious father). It was also interesting to see the different dynamic between these two opposite individuals.
7. Arrow vs. Nyssa vs. Merlyn
All signs seem to point at Malcolm Merlyn as the one responsible for Sara's death. Of course, Merlyn goes out of his way to convince Oliver and Nyssa that he wasn't responsible.
6. The Brave and the Bold
Barry Allen returned to Starling City, and this time, here to help the gang stop Captain Boomerang. It was a great episode that introduced Starling City to it first metahuman visitor. Though, there is a rumor going around that a certain fiery metahuman might also make a visit to the Arrow's city.
5. Thea killed Sara Lance
While most viewers expected it, it was revealed in the midseason finale that Thea was the one who killed Sara, thanks to a mind controlling plant given to her by Merlyn.
4. Ray Palmer Reveals the A.T.O.M. Suit
So many people were disappointed when the producers of Arrow announced that Ray Palmer had no reason to shrink on Arrow when The Flash exists. Luckily, thanks to the success of the Flash and Arrow crossover, that may not be the case anymore. Palmer seems to be at the end phase of the suit's creation. Expect to see him in full gear in the second half of the season.
3. The Canary Dies
Sara was thought to die at the hands of Deathstroke during season two's finale, but when she was spared, viewers thought she would stay safe throughout season three. That wasn't the case, Sara was brutally murdered, dying in front of her sister, Laurel.
2. Arrow vs. The Flash
While this fight scene technically happened on The Flash it still deserves to be included on this list. No one really expected Oliver to go against the scarlet speedster, and for those that did, they never expected to actually see that fight, or at least, not this early on.
1. Oliver Queen vs. Ra's al Ghul
It was safe to assume that Oliver would not kill Ra's al Ghul, and it was also safe to assume that Ra's al Ghul would not kill Oliver. Imagine our surprise when Ra's thrusted his sword into Oliver's chest, kicked him off the cliff, and walked away like it was nothing.
Arrow returns with all new episodes on January 21 on The CW.
